Soon to RETIRE Coach Woodson Thread

Recommended Posts

I have seen his name a couple times, and commented a billion pages back on this. But Chris Mack would worry me...He flamed out very quickly at Louisville, and I  wouldn't want him in the top 5 names that we would run down.

I could be wrong, and only time would tell, but I think that would be a disaster hire.

Would succeed damn near anywhere. And he's 52 years old.

If we could get Buzz Williams at IU I would be completely satisfied, elated, optimistic, sky-high happy. Yay Buzz!! only downside is that he would be really expensive - would take $7-8 million a year salary and has a $13.4 million buyout.

Would be a  very good day, but he's kinda sorta starting to age out of being a long-term solution.

he is 52 right?  Where you talking abut long-term solution in regards to age?

Evidently not long enough to have fun with a running joke on BTB.   Yep Wade would probably kill it here and when he was at VCU in the college basketball thread I probably pointed out how much at the time I liked him and keep an eye on him.   Ran good stuff and won some games because of his coaching.   And then he went to LSU and his personality changed and he got cockier and got caught on tape offering big a.. offers.  Became a total slime ball and from that point on I hope he loses every single game and when he does lose he has a nice Crean Gif waiting for him

Not going to change anyone’s opinion I’m sure but big @$$ offers have been going on across CBB and CFB for decades, he was just unfortunate enough to get caught. Not sure why anyone cares about that, it essentially became legal a few years later but to think he was some rogue rule breaker isn’t true

Coach incorporates more than just win/loss record, although that's a major component.

If you really think that Will Wade is a better choice to lead this program than McCasland, Devries, Brownell, or Micah? You are absolutely entitled to that opinion but I couldn't disagree more.

If we're simply talking basketball acumen and potential ceilings at IU, Wade blows every single one of those guys out of the water. Brad Brownell? Seriously?

But we're not just talking about strong-@$$ basketball acumen; what about as a program leader? Lots of guys have a strong-@$$ winning percentage.

In my opinion, anyone in Hoosier Nation who could relate to Will Wade would also have to be able to relate to complete smug-smarmy-ness. I suppose there are fans out there who would buy into that, but every year there are so many good choices without that strong-@$$ awfulness.

Wow, that's great.  Wonder how with all that coaching accumon how he ended up at McNeese State.

Because he was serving a 2 year show-cause and sat out part of his first season. He won't be there after this season. McNeese State is 46-9 since Will Wade was hired...they had two winning seasons in the 20 years prior.

Strong-@$$ offers is literally the name of the game in college basketball these days. And he's one of the best at it. Dude is a flat out winner. That's who I want leading this program, not some nice guy I want at my backyard bbq.

That's 15 years if it went well.

15 years of making the tournament and making some runs (maybe banners) sounds like Utopia.  Of course we would not have our fire coach so and so thread which is very entertaining.  HMMMMMMMMM...which one sounds better :)

I totally understand why some here don’t want Wade or Beard.  I get it.  But outside of those 2 and Brad I really think everyone else is a total crapshoot.  I’d be shocked if any of those 3 just mentioned didn’t win big here.

Lets hope Brad is finally ready to come home.

I can't do Beard, but I can definitely bring myself to get behind Will Wade.

What he did at LSU is not a concern anymore and while a d-bag... he wins big. That's good enough for me at this point.

Doesn't feel like a personality fit at all though, so doubt we seriously pursue him.

I have more hope for Stevens than I ever did, but still a long shot of course.

Hoping we can strike gold with a young up and comer, if it comes to that.

For an organization as weak-@$$ as the NCAA, that's a strong-@$$ penalty.

My dislike for him started with his personality change and how he acted at LSU before all of that.   I don’t like him and probably never will

Powerless in todays world.

Will Wade would absolutely kill it at IU in this climate. Thick-skinned, doesn't give a s*** what people think, flat-out winner. But yeah let's hire Brad Brownell because he's a pro's pro whose never won anything. If Brad Brownell was from across the river in Henderson KY instead of Evansville he'd be an after thought.
