Fire Coach Woodson Thread

I like that he wins, but Drake is dead last in adjusted tempo in D1. 330th in fast break points. I can't speak for anyone other than myself, but after 8 years of ArchieWoodyBall I do not have much stomach left for slow, plodding half court systems.

Nope! They had potential fast breaks and slowed it down to pass it around and use every second of the clock.snooze fest

McCollum would be about 4th or 5th on my list, but you have to remember he's coaching D-2 transfers. If shortening the game works best for them, that's what they need to do. He may not play such a slow pace if he has better talent. I'm reminded of how Wisconsin was the slowest team in the Kenpom era under Bo Ryan, then when he had Final Four talent he turned them loose.

If we play good and are winning and ultimately get the win then no boos will be heard imo

No boos because that means no students show up.  If students show up, I guarantee you Woodson gets booed!

Yes, they only play 7 deep this year so while I think McCollum prefers a slower pace, I think they’re THIS slow partially out of necessity to keep guys fresh all season. I would hope he is willing to be flexible enough to grow and adapt his style as most championship winning coaches do over the course of their careers. He’s still only in his early 40s I believe. Who knows how he adjusts with more resources and more talented players in a bigger conference… I’m high on him though doubt we end up with him.

Yea, I suppose you're right with the talent level, I just have had it with slow basketball. That said, I would be happy with a potato on the sideline as long as it meant Woody is gone lol

I don’t have the stats but have heard he played the same slow pace in D2 when he had superior talent. Open to be proven wrong if stats show otherwise

She thinks one overseas recruit bought Woodson another year. Good lord she needs to find a new career.

In order to keep this guy, we have to keep Woodson.  That sounds like an ultimatum.  Thanks, but no thanks.  Doesn’t she realize we can replace him through the transfer portal?

Yep, I respect what the Drake coach has done in D2 and winning right away but I watched them play today and was not impressed, not fun to watch at all.

if we don’t get our top 2 guys I agree with the two above

Big fan of Bryce Drew currently at Grand Canyon...

Feels like he rode fifth year guys Bacot and Love from the previous administration. Now that he’s working on his own the results are starting to show some cracks in his coaching abilities. The risks of hiring former players continues to rear its ugly head.

Guy with last name Davis inherits roster from legendary coach and goes to Final Four in year 1. Sounds familiar.

Central Florida grad, minor in sports business management. This is a troll piece just for clicks and engagement. I bet she like everyone else would LOVE for us to keep Woodson. No way she's covered the sport for 4 years, with several articles about IU's struggles already this year, and is actually clueless about why we want him gone. Can you say obtuse?

I did a quick Google search... led me to her LinkedIn page where she's sporting the "#OpenToWork" banner on her profile photo.

No shock there

MW supporters seem to desperate and they are pulling out all the stops to try to right the ship and keep his job.  That’s what all I have seen over the last few days!
Facebook is pure comedy. His remaining crew is going with your a hater if you dont support him because it means you don't support the team. They are really outnumbered now though.
