No info!  Just a feeling because that’s his entire focus and I really wish we would stay away from one and done players.  The transfer portal is going to be bad enough to maintain a roster, one and done players compounds it, plus Woodson doesn’t seem real good at roster construction
I would not be shocked if he shut it down if his injury is weeks long. It's why building an actual team of hs recruits is important.

If Ware shuts it down I don’t know you can take anyone involved with this program seriously moving forward.

I’m not sure he would stay in the first round if he missed the rest of the season with an injured ankle.  Biggest knock on him is that he has the rep of not going hard all the time and only missing half of the year with a twisted ankle wouldn’t help change that.
He is listed 47th in.the current mock draft I saw. But he was probably dropping due to his big ten play. If his whole goal is getting drafted hy would he come back and risk dropping further?

What can Woodson say he relies on five stars. Woodson simply isn't good enough of a coach to coach up a team of guys like wiscosin has. Woodson would need kentucky like recruiting to succeed. But he only gets 1/3 of what kentucky does.

A few of you seem to get fired up all the time over things that are not even true. There is enough to be upset with, without inventing things.

there is zero reason to believe he is going to “shut it down.” Zero

I also don’t know what mock draft you looking at but the few that are most up to date and considered legit, all show the same thing, he is still a late lottery to mid/late 1st.

I know nothing about Yardbarker, and think Ware will likely go late first round….but Bronny James on that list at 30 is funny. Kid may very well be an NBA player one day, but having him on a list given his college production so far (know he had the heart scare) doesn’t happen unless your last name is James.

Picking Bronny at #30 would be a no brainer, frankly. Players picked in the late first round are wild cards anyway. This wildcard comes with LeBron James.

"5*" are great additions to a team.  But you need that core of 3s and 4s that you develop over 4 years.  You can't win consistently with the lack of continuity that "5*s" and portal players bring.

I agree with that and have never thought or posted we should try to get all 5*.

In theory I like the 4 year develop guys strategy but it is increasingly harder and harder to do so as guys like Bates, (and I won’t name names but won’t be shocked if we lose at least a couple to the portal this year) and Jeronimo hit the portal if they don’t get what they consider enough playing time. These days, because of the portal, virtually all players are potentially one and done at a particular school.

Its also something that much of the fan base wants guys that develop over 4 years yet absolutely trash guys for not being better when they are only half way through their freshman year and/or early in their Sophomore season.

That’s where character and coaching come into play.  Guys are less likely to leave winning programs where they can see the future.  But just ask that Timberlake kid how transferring to Kansas worked out. Maybe he gets a ring.

So having a guy that might have a long term injury and might shut it down is proof, without any evidence, of why Woodson needs a team of his recruits ?!?!?!?

I’m not defending this team. Chemistry and effort is off. Lots of things are off. IQ is off.

I’m also not totally defending CJ because what he did was dumb, but Klesmit was totally goading him into that play. If you watch the full clip. Klesmit initiates unnatural head contact 3 times and CJ just didn’t handle himself they way he should have. He could have even used two hands to back Klesmit up. He could have done a lot of things.

Anyway, we will deal with this all year because we’ve proven to be mentally weak as a team so other teams are going to test us more.

I hate how I feel about the program this year. I don’t want this anymore, but I don’t want a rebuild. I wanted Woody to work even though I had strong doubts. We only need 1 or 2 decent years to get to a natural transition. Now we’d have this. The fans will be blamed again for being mean and unreasonable. Ugh….

Personally, I think I need another few years off. Will be easier said than done. But for the last few years I’ve spent thousands and thousands of dollars on tickets, travel, and gear. I just can’t do it anymore. The product isn’t worth what I spend. I guess this is my way of protesting with my wallet.

When IU blew up the program in 2008, I completely lost interest. Wasn’t until the Zeller recruitment started to heat up, that I started to think maybe we had turned the corner.

Also something else that needs to change, Woodson needs to be more transparent about things.  We all need to know what form of action and accountability will he take!  Taking care of it in house is a load of crap.  We are all paying these players salaries, doesn’t that make us stakeholders?

No. We are not stakeholders, we are not assistants, advisors, Board, or whatever. We’re fans. We watch (or don’t) a product. We wear (or don’t) product apparel. IU owes us nothing, the coaches owe us nothing. If the product doesn’t suit you, make your voice known. Nobody is participating on this because the fans need to be compensated. We have zero knowledge of the ins and outs of everyday responsibilities and actions. I’m not calling you out by any means, as I enjoy many of your comments, but saying that sometimes transparency is a perceived entitlement where none is needed

I was ‘done’ with Archie. Been tired of the administration holding us back for eternity. Then NIL comes around and a new coach. A semi evened playing field. The Woody hire was super underwhelming but the recruiting and ties and experience had me warming up.

Both tournament seasons he slightly under performed my expectations but overall he meet the minimum bar. This year has been a gigantic miss and a lot of the noticed problems from years past are really showing their face this year.

But Nil is what really brought me back in. It’ll keep me locked in for a while. Hell, I watched Crean’s first 3 so I’m probably always going to watch to a certain degree.

I get what you are saying but doesn’t the NIL sort of change that?  These players are being paid and they aren’t conducting themselves professionally.  I know flagrant fouls are handle differently in the NBA than college but usually a player gets suspended and fined in the NBA and it is announced.  Our players aren’t getting fined or suspended, so what type of punishment are they getting?  Being made to go to class or lights out at 10 PM isn’t punishment, lol.  I just think it would be nice if they told us what the punishment was because it appears there is no punishment, which ticks us fans off.  They embarrassed the university, IMO and it makes it look like CMW has lost control of this team.

Just like any business, they ignore us, the customer, at their peril.  Now that doesn’t mean they have to tell us specific discipline issues.  But they should be respectful of our questions, even things at the discretion of the coach like substitutions.  (Yeah, I’m talking to you Mike Woodson.).

There are so many things in play here. X's behavior is a pattern of bad choices. Woody's lack of consequences send the message that "hey, no problem"... and then in the Wiscy presser Woody downplays the whole Gunn F2 as a "semi-elbow". Then there's Woody's arrogance in the Rutgers presser re substitution patterns ("I'm not going to sit here and answer that question when it comes to the fans or you").

Nothing wrong with being the smartest guy in the room... problem is, he isn't. He's old, stubborn, and we get what we get.

I think Gunns elbow was a week call.  Had to be done i suppose and he has to be much smarter than that.  You can downplay the elbow but can’t downplay the consequences and the situation.  It is the least of our problems.

It definitely is a microcosm of what is going on inside the program.  The key you mentioned is downplaying the consequences.  I think it’s more than downplaying though, I think Woodson is choosing not to have any.

We don’t know.  And other than apologies to his teammates, i really don’t care.  I’d rather see accountability for all the missed free throws.  :)
