IUBB vs North Alabama - Thursday, 12.21.23 @ 8:30 on BTN

Gunn, Banks, and Sparks really struggle. We really need Gunn or Banks to get better . Sparks is even farther behind.
I would be happy if Gunn never saw the floor again.

Gunn looked good in shoot around early as him and mack were out early but as pointed out before was  more of a set shot and not the high jumping jump shot we see during the game.  Cupps shot was more of a line drive shot with very little air under it and the ball rotation was sideways on a few shots. Just didn't seem consistent.

I AM WORRIED!

There are about five posters that were extremely active in the Morehead, Auburn, and Kansas threads that were nowhere to be found tonight.

I hope they’re okay!

I'm fine just working on last minute items for my Christmas wishlist.

Surprising on Cupps. With all the extra work he puts in I would expect his form to be solid in warmups. Figured he just needed to find the comfort in games.

Gunn is the guy we will always hear about that hits 80% in practice but only 25% in a game. I guess he would be good for a game of horse but it's brick city in the games

I just really hope we keep playing offense the way we have the last few games.

The offense is much different the last few games and I pray that it stays. While we're still playing two bigs together largely, we're not just dumping into two bigs on the block while everyone stands around.

We're running more chin action, horns action, Galloway curling on pin down DHO's, etc., etc.

We're playing with more pace and space and using Galloway as the engine instead of running everything through bigs on the block.

I don't expect us to shoot that well again from deep, but it wasn't just luck. Many of us that have been calling for more 3's have also been calling for a different offensive system that would create more rhythm 3's, and last night, and really the last couple of games we've seen that.

We need to be using our bigs in DHO's, ball screens, etc., to get guys like Galloway and XJ (when he gets back), and even guys like Cupps and Walker going downhill.

Our guards still aren't super great, but we need to play with pace and space, and it just creates more action for everyone, including the bigs.

If you had to guess, is this offensive renaissance due to match-ups, team finally jelling without XJ, something else?

Tough to say. I think it's on Woodson, and I mean that both positively and negatively.

Positively because it's a great move IMO, and he's changing/adapting the offensive sets. Negatively because what took so long and why did we spend the first 5 or so games with 2 bigs on the block and just throwing it to them while everyone stood around watching?

I don't think that has anything to do with XJ. I mean, these sets aren't the players gelling, these are schemati, purposeful  changes.

I'd also expect XJ to play very well in this style (assuming it stays) when healthy.

Maybe he has been working on a few things and it just hasn't became solid for him yet? I'm not sure but maybe it wasn't a normal night for him as this is the only time I've observed it. Maybe someone else will elaborate on it more.
