Coach Curt Cignetti to INDIANA

Let's add Rod Carey, Ryan Silverfield, and Sean Lewis to the list of interviews and say that Herman might get one and take off Curt Cignetti. This is from Matt Weaver. His list is a little different from what I'm hearing but I'm guessing he is close to the situation. I was told Herman would get one. I have not heard anything about Carey. Don't know much about Silverfield or Lewis.

It sounds like Carey is getting an opportunity to state his case but likely won’t get the job.

I could live with Candle and talked into Chryst with the right support staff but that's about as underwhelming of a list as it gets if true. Sounds like money is going to be a constraint.

I 100% agree. I thought we would have a much better list than this. We must be going the cheap route again.

I will say two of those are surprises to me. Carey and Silverfield seem to have come out of nowhere. I was hoping for a couple bigger names but this list tells me were not raising the pay.

He did say that they aren’t doing interviews so more names will likely pop up today or tomorrow.

If we hire Silverfield we should just go ahead and fold the program and join the Big East. Memphis fans hate him we would be doing them a favor. Completely unserious move to hire that guy.

Silverfield took over Memphis is 2019, he wa 0-1, since then their worst record is 6-6.

Lewis is the OC at Colorado. Had a sub .500 record as HC at Kent State.

Yes, right now their just talking on Zoom I know that. But they want to meet with 3 people by the end of the week so it's one of these people or things have to speed up quickly. They want to announce by Saturday

Curious as to why Fuente isn’t a candidate? He’s been around the program, so he sorta knows what he’s dealing with. He’s got P5 head coaching experience. From what I understand, he had some issues with the AD who didn’t hire him at VT, which he felt hamstrung him a bit.

Not necessarily advocating for him. Just seems as he might be worthy of consideration. Don’t know if he has any interest, however.

Ugh. Disappointing.  We’d have been better off putting the 15 million towards the players budget and keeping Allen.  This is just going to be a further extension of the trainwreck that is Indiana Football.

Pretty much. Some of those names scream not serious and wondering why we need a new coach in a few more years.

Comparison of Silverfield at Memphis to his predecessor Norvell:

Mike Norvell    2016–2019                38–15    .717
Ryan Silverfield    2019–present       21–16    .568

Lewis would be a pretty good HC imo. The Kent State record doesn’t define him as a coach. Kent State is the worst job in the MAC. He was doing a pretty good job at Colorado but Sanders panicked after a bad week or two and demoted him when their roster just wasn’t good and now they’re losing commits because he isn’t staying at Colorado.

Silverfield or Candle may be the hire considering their teams are still playing. Would think Chryst, Lewis, Frye, or Carey could have been named by now. This is just silly if all true.

From what I was told we are talking on zoom with several guys yesterday and today, then going to narrow it down to three, then meet with those three in person late this week to decide.

Probably get us Danny O'Neil if that is the case.
