Going into today's game, they were good enough in the west division to play for the hardware. Yeah, not as good as UM, O$U, PSU, Maryland or Rutgers, but good enough to represent that weak ars division, nonetheless.

Give some credit to a team that has been playing a lot better since the OC change.  Something is going good for us here.

And PSU annihilated Maryland at Maryland today, making our performance last week look a little more impressive.

It’s the same as Archie’s last season. Better to bottom out than risk another season. The basketball program would’ve been in a worse place if he won enough to last enough year. Same with the football program. This was his third conference win in his last 24 attempts. 12.5%. Time for him to leave.

I think he’s back regardless, his buyout would be double what Archie’s was.

It might be better long term for Allen to stick around until the buyout is reduced as too as we will have more money to pay a competent staff.

The program just continues to crumble if Allen sticks around. Less and less talent every year.

Rick Bozich  -  By beating Virginia Tech, Louisville improved to 8-1. This is @JeffBrohm’s 10th season as a head coach — and his sixth season with 8 or more wins.

Hope PUke is crying in their beer.  But why can't IU ever land a coach that can mirror Brohm's record or at the very least just come close?  Rhetorical question!

Well.. why would a coach that is that good come here?

It's career suicide.

I was actually rooting for a shorthanded Wisconsin to overcome the odds and beat Indiana.

Now the Hoosiers actually believe they can go bowling.

No... I did not follow the game, I actually had work.

What a sad post. Par for the course for you though.

Because we have the resources to compete nationally. More than almost all schools outside the Big Ten and SEC.

It’s not that hard of a pitch.

We don't though.

The only resource that matters is a vast recruiting base. We have Southern Indiana HS football to recruit from.

Schools outside the B1G/SEC that still dwarf our "resources"-- Clemson, UNC, FSU, Miami, VT, UVA, NC ST, Louisville, Utah, TCU, Houston, Baylor, ASU, AZ, Stanford. WVU. OK ST.

"Its not that hard of a pitch"... its probably the hardest sell in all of D1 sports.

We do if we commit to it. Second highest grossing athletic department last year. Rich alumni base with deep pockets. Just have to consciously decide to invest and do what’s necessary to win.

Kentucky, Duke, Kansas, UNC have flipped. Indiana could follow those footsteps and find a second tier level of success.

UNC shouldn't be compared to us, imo, they are worlds ahead of where they are geographically/recruiting and play in the 3/4 best league.

Kansas is certainly currently having success, not been sustained. Iowa State would be the best example for me. Matt Campbell is awesome.

I get what you're saying about investment... just don't think UNCs situation is like ours.

We are going to have more money than a lot of those ACC schools moving forward purely based on the vast difference between the Big Ten and ACC TV deals.

I’m not saying IU is a destination job, it’s not. But it’s not a tough sell to an up and comer with a little vision.

If we weren’t in the Big Ten, I would wholeheartedly agree with you. Thankfully we are already in it because we would never get an invite if we weren’t.

Because a part of me (and by a part, I mean all of me) wants Tom Allen gone, and if Tom Allen falls @$$ backwards into a bowl game, we're stuck with him?

(Sorry so long, but give it a peek…)

Look, it’s no secret that many of us want a change at the top, including myself. I was major holdover and the Maryland loss put me over the edge.
If there is any positives to come out of these last two games (Penn St./Wisconsin) it’s this….. We were in a horrible tailspin this season, leading up to the Penn St. game with no end in sight. Things appeared to be imploding around the team and fans. Head hunters were out with lit torches and IU fans on social media wanted Coach Allen gone yesterday!

I eventually felt that and unfortunately, wanted the same. With all these things being said and knowing what’s going on around you as a coaching staff and team…., what changed in recent weeks?

Something that many of us aren’t realizing is that this team or at least the majority, still believe and respect Coach Allen. This team obviously, still has fight and wants to win! The direction this entire team was going including the coaching staff, should have been pummeled by Penn St.

Players aren’t going to put that kind of effort in a coach if they don’t believe in him or respect him. Something has changed positively with this team whether we want to believe it or not. I think the most glaring, positive change in recent weeks is the OL & Coach Carey and the progression of Sorsby. I blame Coach Allen, because he waited too long to fire Bell and establish ONE staring QB.

So….now, here we sit with 3 winnable games left.
- In my opinion, if we win all three remaining games and win our bowl game, Coach Allen deserves another year, NOT multiple. (I don’t know how that contract stuff works).

- If we win all remaining three and lose the bowl game, I still feel we need a change at the top.
- If we lose just one of our remaining three games, obviously we won’t get a bowl. In this case, Coach Allen definitely needs to be let go.
JMHO…. Go IU!!

This board and this fanbase are a riot. A week ago, we weren't winning another game. Now, we're winning out? Good stuff.

…Speaking for myself, I never said we would win out. The way we have played for two straight weeks, the odds are obviously better. Lol

However, 2 weeks ago I would have given zero chance of that. You are right though, how quickly things can change, good or bad.

Great post, and that's similar to where I'm at right now. I do think if they make a bowl game, he's back for the final year of his contract with a chance to show we're headed in the right direction.  That being said he'll need a HUGE off-season in recruiting,  the portal, and retaining our best players.

The fact the players haven't quit shows they still believe in CTA. He has struggled with hiring solid assistants, but with Carey/Fuente and Bostad, has solidified the offense to be respectable.

We have a good core of young qb's, receivers, tight ends, and offensive linemen. We need better running backs depth, but the portal can help. Special teams needs to change, but our defense is always solid under Allen. Gotta finish these last three strong, or it probably won't matter.

How about our performance at Maryland where we got killed. Also Maryland has now lost 4 in a row.
