Yeah, now only if a SG would have become available like that. Reeves from Kentucky was really the homerun option if it could have came to be but I don’t know how we can layout a roster option that’s appealing to him. If only it were Knecht instead.

I think it was and at the time we didn’t know it…if he commits originally then you don’t get Mackenzie…and I think Mackenzie fits Woodson’s vision of an offense better (shooting, athleticism)

That was a top 25 ‘24 recruit likely committing to them tomorrow.

This sound like St John’s is giving it a try but clearly NIL is the factor so expect other schools to jump in line with offers.

This article ran just yesterday on On3 -- Rick Barnes talking about the impact Chris Ledlum was making at Tennessee.

Two things in terms of St. John's:  New York passed legislation that allows college staffs to take a part in brokering NIL deals for student-athletes and the law supercedes the NCAA stepping in.  NCAA can't be happy about that and may take it to court but at this time, there is nothing preventing Pitino from telling someone in the portal openly how much they can get and the exact details of the deals.

I also thought that after Wilcher signed with St. John's, they were over by a scholarship....if that's the case, Ledlum would put them two over on scholarships.    Sucks for guys that he recruited to come there because after reasonably assuming that after scholarships were full that they wouldn't be recruited over in the summer, all bets are off.  There is some thought that Quinn Slazinski might be moving on (stretch four that played under Pitino at Iona)

They did, in a memo sent out on June 27th.  But law on book > memo, IMO.  The memo to me is just a 'if you want to be fair, everyone should play by the same rules and not use a state's law to their advantage'.  

Here is the law that New York put on the books July 6th, effective immediately:

“An athletic association, conference, or other group or organization with authority over intercollegiate athletes, including, but not limited to the NCAA, and shall not authorize its member institutions to penalize or prevent a college from participation in intercollegiate athletics because an individual or entity whose purpose includes supporting or benefitting the college or its athletic programs or student-athletes violates the collegiate athletic association’s rules or regulations with regard to a student-athlete’s name, image, or likeness activities.”

And then IF the NCAA actually wins that court battle, they'd likely have another one from any NY school they tried to punish for following a state law.

Stopping in to say I was disappointed IU didn't get Ledlum, but I think it turned out for the best. Not that he couldn't/wouldn't help IU, but his skillset seems mostly redundant on the current roster. 

If he ends up at SJ gotta think something squirelly happened.

Could be something as simple as wanting to be close to home.  Have to think NIL money at Tennessee isn't going to be lower than at St. John's.
