Chris Ledlum - Harvard Transfer to Tennessee -- Wait, Make That St. John's

Recommended Posts

He sure looks like a Big Ten player. Kind of guy MSU or OSU always seem to have, does a little of everything. Doesn't appear super athletic, but soild skills and patient & controlled. Gives me a 'more polished Reneau' vibe. While he looks capable on the wing, he doesn't appear to be a perimeter player to me.

Hard to imagine him, Battle & Reneau on the same team. Lots of overlap.

He looks like a more polished (and taller) AJ Moye to me.  Not a great athlete, but very strong.  Has a real nose for the basket.  Appears to have good handles.  Shot looks nice, but I wish it went in more.  On a good team he's your third or fourth option.  As others have said, I like him a more as a small 4 than a big 3.  At the end of the day, definitely a guy you want on your team.

He's the most likely to commit next, since he's visiting this weekend. I wonder if the staff see's him as a 3 or undersized 4.

They want someone they can use in both spots. To me it’s Battle vs Ledlum they are targeting for that role. But since they are targeting a true 5 my guess is it’s going to be more in Kopp’s spot will will likely get small 4 minutes here and there as well.

I think Ledlum would be dumb to commit on his visit, but more power to him if he does!
Generally speaking I think any major decision is best made after taking time to reflect and evaluate all options. However, sometimes you just know....ya know? So I normally agree but there are exceptions.

....the thing about all this portal recruiting is we just don't know how much time is spent communicating through texts, phone calls, zoom meetings and building relationships with these individuals. That makes a huge impression and means a lot to the players. It certainly helps make their decision much easier when it comes time. Like you said, "sometimes you just know".

My thinking? Knoxville is FUN(great food, not ugly females, and beautiful campus), maybe get to see some good baseball too. I wouldn't pass up on an experience.

TJD and Race LOVED their weekend in Knoxville in the fall haha

Ledlum was a top 150 recruit out of high school, has been at Harvard, has seen plenty of the world and worked his @$$ off both on and off the court. He doesn't need to miss Harvard classes for a chicks and booze weekend in Knoxville if he knows IU is the right place for him.

Seems like a poor choice to me, but to each their own.

I see an OV to Harvard (wow I'm sure that's exciting), an UV to St Johns... and an UV to Seton Hall. Idk.

I'd want my kid on an OV to Harvard over one to Tennessee any day all day. Booze and frat houses are everywhere; Harvard is pretty ******* unique.

I would tell my kid to take the trip to Tennessee regardless of his thoughts on Btown/IU after this weekend.

I am sure a little extra NIL money to commit before leaving would sway him to cancel the trip to UT and commit on the spot

Hmm.. now.. hold on. Didn't know MORE money could be part of the equation. Thought it was an apples to apples thing.

Yeah if someone threw more money in my face all bets are off, for sure.

This recruit is a little different. Not saying he doesn't want NIL money, but with a Harvard undergrad degree he will likely be seriously earning for life, irrespective of basketball.

If I'm Ledlum, this is much more about role and development for the NBA.

that is fair.  Although a little extra cash never hurt.

...Come ON C! lol........Everyone knows you're a Tennessee fan too,....that's all good, but this is IU we're talking about here!! lol

I mean, (IMHO) IU is THE ONLY university that matters here..... Selfishly, I don't want anyone to step between those coveted players and IU.

***(edit- I strategically added a few lol's here and there so I wouldn't appear mad at you!)...lol
