No offense but that’s just not true. He’s playing more - and capitalizing with scoring - largely bc his D is better. You think Woodson doesn’t think his D is any better but is playing him more anyway? No way

No offense taken from me either! But I was focusing on watching Tamar on defense for awhile last night.

His recognition and rotation were horrible.

Wow Iowa lost at home against E. Illinois a team ranked lower than Elon and Jackson St

Pretty low standard to judge IU by. I don’t think we’re going to get back to the Knight days by worrying about what mediocre Iowa teams are doing.

The UNC win is looking better and better. All teams are going to go through things during a season. Hopefully we just did.

I tend to lean this way. He kind of fancies himself as a scorer. And he seems to be progressing that way, so that’s good. He loses focus on defense pretty easily. I did see some good defensive possessions from him but many mistakes too.

It’ll grade out well. But we caught them in a spot. Computer rankings don’t account for that.

Most teams have the same problems we have. UNC came into the season ranked #1 and is 8-4. UM was considered.one  of the favorites in  the big ten is now 7-4. Duke has lost 3 games and it is the first time they have lost 3 games before the New Year in over 20 years

If you can beat them & Xavier than you have good basketball in your system just have to figure out how to get it out each game

I agree with Xavier and that’s what I hang my hat on. That’s a good win and we were tough that night. Need to get back there.

He’s absolutely better than last season though, that’s why he is playing. Which is a good thing, we need his improved scoring

I could be wrong and I’m taking offense just kidding. But Rutgers, Arizona both went right after him and last night he got pulled by Woodson & got a talking to after giving up a basket

Lol (on taking offense, haha). Yes, and his getting pulled after a defensive mistake is as we see now vintage Woodson (though he sort of overlooks it in others at times), but he’s playing, snd clearly more, because he’s better

I don't get taking every little thing that is posted on here as a reason to bash IU.  Nobody said a damn thing about using a loss to Eastern Illinois by someone else as a reason to feel good about IU.  Post was recognizing that Iowa just lost to a team that was worse than the team IU just beat by 24 points without two starters and another player that is in the nine man rotation.

And for the record,  Iowa had a NET of 27 coming into the game against Eastern Illinois.   Even after the loss they are at  38 on Pom.

When we beat them nobody had done to them what we did.  UNC had two losses at that point -- a five point loss to Iowa State in a game they lead most of the way and led with 2 1/2  minutes left  and a 2 point loss in four overtimes to an Alabama team that is a top ten.  IU lead UNC basically wire to wire and won by a 12 in a game that any observer watching knew it was more like a 20 point game.

My bad. I took a post about Iowa on an IU message board in a thread about an IU basketball team that played a 300+ opponent to have some relationship to IU basketball or otherwise the topic at hand.

I guess it was just our daily Iowa Hawkeye update.

Nobody else played them in their 4th game on the road in 6 days.

Its tough to play that many games in a short amount of time on the road. It’s a pretty well known phenomenon in the NBA. 4 days later they would play their 5th straight road game at Vatech and lose by 8.

Btw, if you want to see a hard schedule, take a look at UNC. One game against 280 ranked citadel, one against 180 ranked gardner webb and almost exclusively top 100ish teams otherwise.

We learned they can play against crappy competition ( just like guys like Damezi looked good).

We learned that we can let guys get past us on D but still recover and block their shots.

We learned we can go inside against smaller guys.

ie…I don’t think those games are helpful but…..I’m sure you will disagree :)

Where I disagree here is Damezi never looked good one single time in an IU uniform he was complete garbage

Ha

I get it but he had a two game streak as a sophomore, against Troy and Northern Alabama where he had 10 and 14 points and was 4-7 from the three in those two games. Some posters were excited that we had found a shooter.

However, as we know those two back to back games, against crappy competition, were pretty much the pinnacle of his IU career (from Dec 13th until the end of the season, ie against better teams, he was an almost hard to believe 0-18 from the field).
