I'm not a fan of these "invitationals" that don't even produce a champion or classifications. Seems like a waste to travel across the country to play teams that are practically within driving distance of campus on a sh*t court in a damn ballroom. Decent Power 6 competition away from home? 2 games in two days and prepares team for postseason. LIHoosier 1 Quote

Agree on venue when men are playing in an arena for their side of the tournament. In the first year the men at least played in a high school gym. Quote

CSP Posted November 26, 2022 Posted November 26, 2022 The outrage over this event is dumb. The court was 100% not a factor in Grace's injury. Aaron 1 Quote
TTT Posted November 26, 2022 Posted November 26, 2022 Injury can happen at any venue called a basketball gym floor. However, After looking at the crowd setting in fold up cafeteria type chairs (probably family members, a couple close friends, and associates) in a hotel Sunday night singles dance type ballroom I am sure somewhere around Vegas there is a place that resembles more of an actual basketball gym that is available. I dont necessarily see the issue. We balled out. Quote
HoosierAloha Posted November 26, 2022 Posted November 26, 2022 Wasn’t a few of the men’s preseason tourneys played in ball rooms for a few years? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Quote

They just make it aesthetically pleasing to look at. They didn't even try with that one. I think you could still see the donuts from the business conference beforehand. Class of '66 Old Fart 1 Quote

I am not complaining about the injury happening in the ballroom. That happens anywhere. I'm complaining more about the ballroom itself. There's at least half a dozen arenas in the Las Vegas area that regularly host MMA events, Nitro Circus, Cirque de Soleil, and so on. We're talking Orleans, MGM Grand, South Point, and... if you're really being a cheap @$$, Buffalo Bill's all the way out in Primm. And that's not to mention the new Dollar Loan Center out in Henderson. Quote

Haven't seen this setup but is it much different than the court they play on in the Battle of Atlantis which is also played in a ballroom. Quote

No. They play plenty of basketball games in ballrooms but everything has to be an outrage these days. thebigweave 1 Quote

They could do a better job with the presentation, somewhat... use some curtains, better scoreboard... other than that, this outrage needs to be directed at the absolutely ATROCIOUS officiating that exists in WBB. Did you watch the game? Quote

And the complaints I’ve seen on Twitter were all about the fact they were playing in a ballroom, until it was pointed out that it’s not uncommon. Then the complaints shifted to the atmosphere/lack of stands. thebigweave and CSP 2 Quote

IU Scott Posted November 26, 2022 Posted November 26, 2022 I remember playing games in Junior High that was actually on tile floor because it was a gym and a cafeteria. Quote
