Probably depends on a couple of things: (1) does the new coach want them to stay; (2) will they still want to stay if their NIL changes; (3) could they get paid better elsewhere...

I suspect that all will at least enter the portal to test interest

Great point on NIL.  I am guessing the new coach will do a double-take when he sees the NIL levels Woody has some of these guys at.

It's all up to the new coach, but I am fine with no players returning.

With respect to our recruits, Sisley is committed to IU the program -- love that!  Zrno committed with Woody about to get fired and he has no connection to IU, which leads me to believe he is another guy who might be on sky high NIL that may not make sense... we shall see.

If you have Goode and DeVries on the court at the same time with a strong penetrating PG.....good luck defense. That floor spacing would be crazy. Add the fact that DDV would be running stuff for both of these guys to get shots. Yeah I think Goode can fit. His defense could be an issue though I agree.

Anyone have any idea how long it will take to get a ruling?

These cases generally get expedited during the spring because of the nature of roster construction and fall camps. Players and coaches need to know relatively quickly whether a guy is eligible.

I'm cautiously optimistic about this process. Good chance the NCAA denies the request, but Goode's team is already saying they'll take this to court if that occurs. Not sure if y'all have been following much lately, but the NCAA typically doesn't fare well in court.

The main argument they'd have against him receiving a waiver is that he returned from his injury. But the courts would call into question whether that is a fair metric, as they have done in past decisions. Whether a player returns or not, if he played few enough games to receive a redshirt, it should be awarded.

I have a relatively good feeling Goode will get his fifth year, but it's definitely gonna take some time to play out if the NCAA fights it.

Yes, I think Goode would win in court. If a player misses all but 10 games in a season with an injury, it seems pretty arbitrary to say that a player gets another season if, and only if, those 10 games are at the beginning of the season.

There's just not a strong legal argument in their favor other than "this is what we've always done."

That hasn't worked well for them in court in recent years.

Tony Adragna's portal tracker specific to IU recruiting efforts.

Portal (and assistant coach hiring) season is here for #iubb. As I did last year, going to track these things and offer film/stats on guys in an easy digestible format. Check it out at

Good stuff. Thanks for posting.  On the Assistant coach tab what does "in the mix" mean? Some are rumored and some are in the mix?
