I’m going to have to look this up but when was the last time IU won a game on a cbs broadcast?  If I had to guess it’s been a while

I'll look it up but I wouldn't be shocked if it was the 2016 tourney game vs pUKe

NOT A bad loss.

Just a loss.

Of course it was!  We lost by 18 at home after just beating our Rival and #4 ranked team Turdue!  We should have come out with more energy and fire, instead they allowed UM to punch us in the mouth and we never matched their energy the entire game.   BAD LOSS!!!

Game today might be exhibit A on why Kopp and Parker need to be split up. There's just such a lack of defense when those two are playing together

I agree in splitting them up.  Today don't think it would have mattered a bit.  Wasn't anyone on the bench that played well.

Look, I like Woodson but there are some pretty clear red flags popping up for me. He’s too stubborn to change the starting lineup which has been absolutely killing us, and in one of his press conferences (can’t remember which), he had mentioned that it’s what “he’s always done”. We need him to adapt, and so far he seems very stubborn on this aspect. It’s been killing us. Another is substitutions and who is on the court. It didn’t matter this game, but once again he has been having our entire second unit out there and refusing to keep one of TJD and race on the court. Lastly, adjustments. Second half adjustments have been nonexistent. How many times have we built a lead in the first half only to see it crumble in the second? I’m alarmed if these trends continue. Also it’s getting so damn old to get a big win and have some momentum only to play like **** the next game and erase what we just did. Maybe it’s just who we are as a program now.

What player would you have played today? 6-9 seemed as bad as 1-5.

You’re hunting for likes here with a snarky comment. You know what I mean. We won our past two games, one of which was over the #4 team in the country. Things were looking up, we were feeling good. Win today and we had  a shot at getting ranked. Our next two games are against Penn State and Maryland, so we had a good shot at 5 in a row. Instead, we didn’t show up and got blown out by an 8-7 team.

8-7? They're a great team though, 2-3 in the Big 1.0 with wins over Nebrasketball and Maryland at home who are a combined 2-14 (they're record, not to be confused with our free or three point shooting).

When you're too cool for school you'll get schooled?

Can’t say that he played noticeably well but Galloway makes things tougher on an opponent than Parker or Koop ever will

Everyone knows how much I love Galloway, but in today's game he simply wasn't good.  And he did get plenty of time to show -- 23 minutes.

I guess Kopp letting his guy beat him off the bounce so many times today is etched in my mind. To be clear he’s not sole the reason we lost.

To quote Baseketball: “it took every guy working together to lose this one”

I agree. Basically no one was good today. Everyone contributed to a blow out loss. Need to correct it quick. Penn State always plays us close.

And hey, I’m not even saying that Michigan sucks. They’re probably not your average 8-7 team, but they’re still 8-7. They’re not a juggernaut. And they came into Assembly Hall and blew us out.

Record wise, we are exactly where we have played to be.  Need our players to have a short memory and move on to the next one.  Fortunately they have seem to do that in the past.

It's just one game though. It's not like we've been struggling with these things since early in the season even against our cupcake noncon.

P Stew and Kopp struggling to defend against more athletic guards/wins

Overhelping, especially with the above mentioned players

Shooting - frees, threes, and making layups harder than they should be

Defense - gasp, we leave shooters wide open too often and get completely lost in simple ball screen defense

Communication - leads to the above defense

Career nights - which Wolverine had a career night against us? I was doing other things during the game and could listen.

Turnovers - we did really well! They're another team that doesn't really turn opposing teams over (~15 TO%)

We'll get them next time or the time after that or sometime in the future.

Can we get the psu game thread started and maybe defend them from outside this time around?

They're definitely more talented than they 8-7 record but we did absolutely nothing to make them uncomfortable on defense. That's just inexcusable. If they hit tough shots (Dickinson had a few really contested that accounted for maybe 4 points) that is one thing. When we leave them WIDE OPEN we can't blame bad luck or variance or anything else, IT'S 1000% on us for our turrble defense. They ***** slapped us, we took it, thought about it for awhile, kind of got back up, and then they ***** slapped us again before we just decided to take it.

I'm not sure if they've filtered the e word yet but we're back to that. I'm sure we'll hear some feel good stories about lack of confidence, injuries, or some other fluff instead of calling it what it is.

The IU fan in me is very disappointed that they lost to an 8-7 team at home.  More disappointed that IU still has an inability to capitalize on momentum.  The college basketball fan in me knows this is no ordinary 8-7 team.   They were preseason #3 for a reason.  They are loaded with talent and brought back a preseason all-American.   Predictive metics still love them.  24th on Ken Pom after this win.  I think they were around 31 before.   They have played a tough schedule and just hadn’t gotten over the hump.    This was their signature win on the road.  Either this games propels them to start playing like many thought they would or it becomes a bad loss for IU.   Howard ducking Purdue and Sparty was a brilliant move
