It was an 18 point home loss to an underachieving, 8-7 Michigan team.. That’s a bad loss, especially when you’re trying to build momentum.

Who just rolled Maryland, and has the talent to be very dangerous if and when they figure things out.

We had won 4/5 in conference and we aren’t good enough to never lay an egg.

Lets sweep next week: Penn State at home and Maryland on the road. That’ll put us at 7-4 in conference.

As it is, 5-4 in conference with a favorable schedule going forward ain’t too shabby.

Win against #4 Purdue: gutsy, hard-nosed, well-deserved, showing our potential.

18 pt loss to Michigan: these things happen..

ok.

Exactly!

Just like if we’d lost to Purdue and played great and won today. I know you were being sarcastic, but your post was the absolute truth.

Missed opportunity of a Q2 home game.   In years past this was the one of the big reasons they missed the tourney.   IU had a chance to improve their seed but they just showed they are still a 7-11 type team.
Penn St game Wednesday gives IU a chance to finish 6-4 in the first half of the B1G.   Howard’s ducking of Purdue and Sparty is paying off.   Gave his struggling team a chance to play some teams they had a better chance of winning against and not have their record 1-4 going into those games.   Kudos to Howard for manipulating the schedule to his teams benefit.  Michigan has a chance to get in the conversation but they have no wiggle room with the non conference results

Look, I like Woodson but there are some pretty clear red flags popping up for me. He’s too stubborn to change the starting lineup which has been absolutely killing us, and in one of his press conferences (can’t remember which), he had mentioned that it’s what “he’s always done”. We need him to adapt, and so far he seems very stubborn on this aspect. It’s been killing us. Another is substitutions and who is on the court. It didn’t matter this game, but once again he has been having our entire second unit out there and refusing to keep one of TJD and race on the court. Lastly, adjustments. Second half adjustments have been nonexistent. How many times have we built a lead in the first half only to see it crumble in the second? I’m alarmed if these trends continue. Also it’s getting so damn old to get a big win and have some momentum only to play like **** the next game and erase what we just did. Maybe it’s just who we are as a program now.

Heck no they don’t!  Not when you are playing at home.  I can see it happening on the road but not at home.

We seemed stuck in the mud to start the game and we never could match their energy.
Our starting 5 has been notorious at not getting off to good starts at the beginning of the game and the beginning of the 2nd half.  I think it is time to shake that part of it up.  He needs to split up Kopp and Stewart.

Game today might be exhibit A on why Kopp and Parker need to be split up. There's just such a lack of defense when those two are playing together

Agree that sometimes you just get beat and you play bad or the other team plays amazing. I just don't think 18pt losses at home to anyone other than 2011 UK team should be brushed off as almost expected. Maybe I expect too much of this team, and that's probably true.

Aren't you always trying to build momentum?

You’re hunting for likes here with a snarky comment. You know what I mean. We won our past two games, one of which was over the #4 team in the country. Things were looking up, we were feeling good. Win today and we had  a shot at getting ranked. Our next two games are against Penn State and Maryland, so we had a good shot at 5 in a row. Instead, we didn’t show up and got blown out at home by an 8-7 team.

Listen others have hit on it but playing the same starting 5 and letting our opponent get a huge lead expecting our bench to come in and save us every game isn't going to work. Someone explain why that is even a option!
