8bucks Posted February 11, 2024 Posted February 11, 2024 Just about every game summary seems to be a blow out win. Clearly the MVA guys we have gotten have been better than other recruits we have gotten but are they really playing better competition? Sure some of these other teams have a good player too but are they great teams? Quote

I said just about every summary I read is a blowout. Just checked and here is their schedule. https://mvasports.com/sports/mens-basketball/schedule/2023-24 Quote

No doubt there are some cupcakes but overall, the EYBL Scholastic League is the creme de la creme of basketball factory basketball. Almost all of the teams in that league have multiple players who will eventually play at the D1 level. This link will give you the teams that are members. https://nikeeyblscholastic.com/stats.aspx?path=mbball&year=2023 If you've never watched a MVA game, please do so. Plenty out there to pick from. They play fantastic team basketball and it's a joy to watch their ball movement on offense and the screening and cutting they do. No egos either. Game I watched earlier today, Liam had open 3s and he passed to teammates who didn't have any better shot than the ones he passed up and he still scored 16 pts. On defense, they've all got really active hands and know how to switch or fight through screens. Extremely well coached. thebigweave 1 Quote

Not complaining about getting a kid or multiple kids from MVA but if you look at their 26 wins, they won 20 by 20+ points. I know that league is considered the best but was just surprised that so many games are not close. Quote

Demo Posted February 19, 2024 Posted February 19, 2024 Rivals from this weekend: The 6-foot-10, 245-pound big plays with a confidence that says he can’t be stopped and then his play makes that aura the reality. Queen’s ability to carve out position in the paint and create space and angles for easy scores is next level. He averaged 15 points, 15 rebounds and four assists through two games this weekend. As for his recruitment, Queen said he thinks “it’s getting to that time” to make a decision. His final four consists of Houston, Kansas, Indiana and Maryland. Hoosier2014 Posted February 20, 2024 Posted February 20, 2024 Don’t have Peegs sub but reading the Twitter replies to the article sounds pretty good for IU. Seems he mentioned Ware going pro or not as a deciding factor. Would make sense as to why he hasn’t announced anything yet and one would assume this could be a good thing for IU. If anyone read the article and got something different from it, please correct me. thebigweave 1 Quote

That's no reason to keep a bad coach... at best Queen will be a one and done (IF he comes to IU)... And it's interesting to me to read the order of the schools listed in the Peegs article (assuming @Demo 's quote is accurate): Houston, Kansas, Indiana and Maryland... that kind of jumped out at me when I read it... all the earlier reports made it sound like a battle between Indiana and Maryland, and now Houston and Kansas are listed ahead of both of the previous "leaders". The story circulating was that he was Hoosier-bound if Ware leaves... and I'd almost guarantee that Ware is gone next year... so, he must be reconsidering it all at this point... curious how big of a factor is Woodson's status in his mind? He’s not going anywhere this season. Im not thrilled about it but it’s pretty much a given. Assuming that’s the case, personally, I'm going to be rooting that we get this kid. These Montverde guys are not your standard run of the mill 5 star kids. They are difference makers as soon as they hit the floor. If we can have 2 of them in one class, it changes the calculus for us. Obviously we need to put more pieces together but it makes that more of a possibility. These are the kinds of kids that even Mike Woodson can win with. I said it before: if we can rebound and have a similar year to last year, next year, we will have avoided a ton of bad optics and will likely open up the candidate pool tremendously. im rooting for us to get this kid and bounce back next year. Go read my post history. That’s completely against the grain for me. J34, Home Jersey, Chris007 and 3 others 6 Quote
