Stuhoo Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 Feels like we are one of so, so many programs offering. Until I see our name or a particular IU staff contact mentioned as a direct connection or for a possible on-campus visit I would not get hopes up. Class of '66 Old Fart 1 Quote

Class of '66 Old Fart Posted June 22, 2021 Author Posted June 22, 2021 One commentator's impression after Udeh's last weekend performance. I got my first look at Udeh at the Bob Gibbons TOC back in May. He was a physical specimen that outworked every single one of his opponents. It was no different with his high school team. As one of the most sought after prospects in the southeast, Udeh possesses all the tools that leave college coaches salivating. At 6-foot-10, he is a monster on the boards and an impeccable shot blocker. Once he gets the ball inside the paint, watch out. 9/10 times he is going to rise up to dunk the ball with a lot power. What I enjoyed the most about watching him play was his effort. He went after every single loose ball and rebound that was in the same vicinity as him. Udeh is considered one of the top big men in the 2022 class for a reason. HoosierAloha, ray, taco corp and 3 others 6 Quote

Class of '66 Old Fart Posted June 30, 2021 Author Posted June 30, 2021 Zagoria - Ernest Udeh Jr., the 6-foot-10 big man from Dr. Phillips High School (FL) and the Southeast Elite AAU team, says several colleges are working the hardest in his recruitment. “Florida, Tennessee, Georgia Tech, Miami, Kansas, and Indiana have been showing love the most I would say,” he said, adding that he holds offers from each of those schools. He also recently added offers from Arkansas, Mississippi State, Texas Tech, Indiana, Hofstra, Cincinnati, Illinois, Tennessee, Alabama, Stanford, and Iona. Udeh, a four-star big man ranked the No. 14 center in 2022 by 247Sports.com, has no visits planned but is hoping to take some in the fall. As for what skillset he will bring to college, he said, “My unique defensive presence and my willingness to get after it aggressively on the offensive side is something I am sure to bring to the next level.” Said Anthony Ricks of Team Parsons: “Ernest’s ceiling is through the roof. He affects the game in every way possible defensively whether it’s blocking shots, switching 1-5, leadership, being vocal, etc. You name it defensively and not only can he do it but it’s a strength of his. “Offensively, he is a great diver in pick-and-roll with the ability to pop for 15-footers. His high level athleticism allows him to out run most bigs and play above the rim catching lobs. He also has the ability to score over both shoulders in the post and can face up, rip and score at the rim. “Over the last five years, our starting centers have been high major recruits with two being top 100 and one being top 40 in Omar Payne. Ernest is as good as the previous [group] and has the upside to potentially be the best of them.” HoosierAloha 1 Quote

But I love him just for using the phrase, “My unique defensive presence.” HoosierAloha 1 Quote

Class of '66 Old Fart Posted July 6, 2021 Author Posted July 6, 2021 Eric Bossi's latest thoughts. 247Sports Ranking: 22. In the mix: Offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Cincinnati, Creighton, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Miami, Stanford, Tennessee and several others. Bossi’s analysis: Talk about explosive stock, hardly any big man in America took the grassroots circuit like Ernest Udeh did during the spring. The bruising 6-foot-10 post player backed it up with a dominant showing in front of coaches during June. This is one where everybody seems to feel they have a chance and Udeh hasn’t given any early indications of which way he may be leaning. We are expecting the five-star from Florida to be among the most heavily watched when he takes the floor this week for Southeast Elite in Alabama for the Adidas 3SSB event. Demo 1 Quote
