Class of '66 Old Fart Posted April 17, 2021 Author Posted April 17, 2021 Jamie Shaw of Rivals - Perhaps no player at the On the Radar Sweet 16 took more advantage of the moment than Clowney. He came into the event with high-major offers from Virginia Tech and Xavier, he added three more when Georgia Tech, Clemson and Providence all offered after his performances. In prime matchups against the Rivals150 prospects such as Shawn Phillips and Will Shaver, Clowney took advantage of the spotlight. Clowney is a big who moves very well. His fluidity, explosion, and tenacity in defending the ball really stick out. He also knocked down threes, showed comfort going over his left shoulder and provided a nice vertical spacing threat on lobs. Playing for Team Dickerson this summer, look for Clowney to enter the Rivals150 in our next release. HoosierAloha and Demo 2 Quote

Curious how Clowney dealt with that kind of physicality. Quote

Curious how Clowney dealt with that kind of physicality. Haven't found any video but did find this from April 10 - Georgia Stars vs Team Dickerson 17U Was a great game to watch the battle of bigs. Shaun Phillips 13 points on 6-10 with 14 rebs and 5 blks. For Team Dickerson Noah Clowney had 19 on 7-15 with 8 rebs 3 blks. Another game - Pro One vs Team Dickerson 17U. NoahClowney was the story of this game early on offense and finished it on defense he finished with 23 points, 11 reb. and 7 blks. Paul Biancardi - Noah Clowney has had a productive day! Brings physical measurables, a scoring package with length and is a shot blocking presence. Like his IQ to cut for scoring opportunities & his quick finishes. April 4th event: 3 Games Sat with @TeamDickerson1 @NoahClowney averaged 15.3 PPG, 8.7 RPG, 1.7 BPG Demo and thebigweave 1 1 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted April 17, 2021 Author Posted April 17, 2021 A small sample, but his performance is quite consistent from game to game. March 29 - @TeamDickerson1 was undefeated at @RYZEHoops Tip-Off this past weekend. In 4 games, @NoahClowney averaged 16.25 PPG, 10.25 RPG, & 3 BPG. An aggressive scorer & defender. From the above event - 2022 PF Noah Clowney (Team Dickerson)- Clowney is having a huge start to the travel season, with great showings in each of Team Dickerson’s first 2 events. He possesses all the physical traits the college coaches desire and looks to have become extremely confident in his offensive ability. At close to 6’10” he runs with fluid, long strides that cover a lot of ground and he gets up off the floor easily. Clowney has finished with both force and finesse at the rim the last 2 weekends, but is also showing shooting ability that extends out to 3. Just as impressive is his ability to protect the basket, altering and sending away countless shots with long arms, big hands, and good timing. He’s making noticeable progress in tapping into the immense potential that he has shown at various points of his high school career. thebigweave and HoosierAloha 2 Quote

Super intriguing. I really have to find games of this kid. jk34 1 Quote
Demo Posted April 17, 2021 Posted April 17, 2021 Found a couple of Clowney games. Youtube rocks. This is his more active game offensively, at least in the 2nd half. Couple of things: 1) He’s about as switchable a big as you’ll see. Great feet and lateral movement, plus he can maintain a stance. 2) He’s a very good shot blocker and he’s been well coached, be it by Rosemond or by his HS coach. He’s patient. Doesn’t go for fakes. Stays vertical. Quick off his feet. 3) What little offense you can see of him, and his guards are shot seeking missiles, is pretty impressive. Soft hands. Soft touch. Has a little jump hook that’s just pretty. 3) Based on the stats Old Fart found from recent games, the light seems to be coming on for him. In these games from Feb, he seems to have no idea that he’s better than everyone else. Would love to have him and hopefully it can get done quickly. ‘Cause this kid is gonna become a big deal in no time. LockdownD, 323SGrant, thebigweave and 4 others 7 Quote

Love both of their games. Quote

Love him. His play at the :50 mark where he makes up 35 ft and inhales that kid’s layup is a hustle play that just doesn’t happen in AAU games. That being said, his AAU coach REALLY needs to take a breath with the Garnett and AD comps. thebigweave, BtownStrength and Stuhoo 3 Quote

I am a lifelong KG fan and throwing around comparisons to he and AD is not joke. I think as much potential as Clowney has, those are pretty lofty comparisons. You are talking about two of the most skilled 6'11" guys to play the game. In terms of dribbling, shooting, passing, and ability to defend 4 positions. Quote

Putting the talent aside, he was about as percolating a competitor as I’ve seen at the high school level. He was almost unnerving in the way he wanted to just stomp guys. When he came out there was a lot of speculation whether a HS kid could hold up physically and emotionally in the League.I remember thinking, you can if you’re wired like that kid. Gnet550 1 Quote
