He doesn't have honest enough people in his circle, then. It's clear he didn't fulfill the requirements in some basic areas of his job. It's clear that he let his ego get in the way of doing that job. This is a massively subjective assumption, but it sounds like no one was willing to be a straight shooter with him except Dolson.

So, WQB forced the hire of a former player, long time friend and mediocre NBA coach with no college experience, and there was doubt in the minds of some that it wouldn't end well? C'mon, that is pretty inconceivable ... the odds were incredibly slim that it ended any other way ... and when you factor in the approach that Woodson took to actually doing the job, it left very little doubt that it would end the way that it has.

And now we're trying to find a legitimate coach to resolve a 4 year (or 8 year) mess that is the basketball program. I hope there's someone willing and able to do the job... we will hopefully know soon.

Greg Gard makes 3.75 mil a year. Proven coach. Why not throw a big offer at him? Worst he can say is no. 

He completely changed his offense this year and usually wins with mid Big 10 talent.

Considering that neither is a serious candidate and this is purely hypothetical, Brownell. But for totally different reasons than Beard.

This one is tricky…..IMO, knowing Bloomington, the initial backlash from the usual subjects for Beard would be worse BUT he would quickly start winning and it would dissolve…..Brownell, I think most people will be so disappointed ,the firestorm will not start until he starts losing….and it will be worse than what would happen with Beard.

I mean literally every NBA to college hire has been an unmitigated disaster...Ewing, Avery Johnson, Howard, Mullins, etc.  We could go one forever.  Not one has been successful.
