Great series! And hey… if we hire him, I’ll personally be pretty optimistic and watching with GREAT anticipation! Little bit of anxiety too until we saw his roster. Would certainly be a fun offseason news cycle.

I understand everyone’s hesitation. Hey, I bet you were a “The Americans” fan too!

Was there any time frame put on his post?

And btw, UVA won in 2019. Hardly 10 years ago.

Besides Guy, UNC had May and Montessori.

Duke had the Plumlees.

Sure there are others.

There are certainly some.  But man the ones you listed are far between.  Hardly a trend.   I mean, im old and I played against Sean May

Multiple high major coaches just in the last week have said things to the effect of “high school recruiting is worthless now,” including pitino.

High school recruiting is worthless to a 72-year-old that has a window of 2 years that isn't looking to build a program and just wants to assemble talent for his final 2 years.  If you are looking to develop a culture and long-term program, high school recruiting is still important.

He had a bad year last year because UCLA wasn’t taking NIL seriously enough and people act like that nullifies his impressive career.

Impressive?  One final 4 and 3 conference titles in 20+ years is impressive?  All in the Pac12 or AAC....

I’m not even saying McCollum can’t cut it at this level. All I’m saying is that he’s a huge risk at a time IU can’t afford to miss on the next coach. Maybe McCollum goes to Iowa and does well. That only matters if the guy we hire is a dud. Louisville fans aren’t moping about Dusty May. They’re happy with their guy who has them 21-6 and 14-2 in the ACC.

McCollum is definitely the anti-Fran in terms of play style.  If McCollum doesn’t win, it would be a brutal style to watch.  That said, an Iowa move makes sense.  Risk matches reward there.

What do folks think our record would be if McCollum was coaching us this year?

Totally hypothetical. I am sure our roster would be a lot different…he demands and stresses defense, and his offense is patient, only take good shots. So I am confident we would be better, but a lot would depend on the roster?

What type of flight are we tracking at Clark Co airport? My brother-in-law knows someone that works there.

Sent from my SM-G981U using BtownBanners mobile app

Clarksville International Airport services many flights!  It’s going to be difficult to track flights here because of the amount of inbound flights.

Turrible. Because none of the current players would be experienced in McCollum’s system.

or more likely

Turrible. Because we very likely would have a much less talented roster and they would get rolled against a steady diet of high major schools.

Can you show me what National Championship talent you're talking about?  I can think of Kyle Guy, and that was one guy damn near a decade ago.  Maybe I'm missing on all the National Championship talent from Indiana you're talking about?

Conley, Oden, Guy, Zeller, May, McGary, Robinson, albrecht, Jeffries, odle, plumlee, Hayward, Howard, smith, loyer, Teague, Gardner, and probably more just this century who have won or played for, in a meaningful capacity, a national title. That’s more than 1 every other year. IU fans rightfully so sit back and wonder why the hell IU isn’t get those guys. And that isn’t even counting the tons of great players who didn’t make it to the last day of the tournament.

How many Indiana guys won or played for a title elsewhere during knights heyday vs the ones that played for him? I bet the ratio was a lot lower. Montross got away, in part due to knights increasing surly relationships with people, and it was talked about quite a bit as unc rose and IU sunk.

I’ll be honest with ye utility these days I don’t really believe all of the flight stuff because everything can be done virtually and with docusign etc but with that being said I do feel there are three reasons Stevens could absolutely be tge next coach. 1. Dusty May signing the extension… I know people say he could easily get out if that extension but IMO he could’ve easily said I want to wait until after the season to discuss the extension if he knew IU was truly in play 2. Brad Stevens quote to Goodman was such a political generic answer that anyone is gonna give. He’s not a candidate until he is. I also interviewed for a job recently but if my boss asks I’m happy and not looking elsewhere. Fact is it’s human nature and in sports you have to be very generic in order to respect the current coach and your current team when there is this much time in between that comment and the end of the season. 3. There are insiders not on this site and those insiders are hearing nothing such as Trilly. If it were certain coaches being targeted from college I feel those leaks would somehow get out and there is no way we are this far along and there not be leaks of IU targeting certain college coaches
