Another element of NIL impact: if a program is looking for a new HC, say 11 or 12 months from now, how many really good guys are more readily available than you think? Supposedly Tommy Lloyd gave serious thought to the Washington job because Zona’s NIL program is subpar. You gotta think Holloway will certainly be available.

Seton Hall (6,000 undergrads) and Providence College (4,800 undergrads) are in the wrong conference.

Small enrollment, not a great endowment (= not a wealthy alumni base), lots of other college sports teams within driving distance, and in a fairly big-time conference. In this environment, I’d bet on DePaul making a Final Four before either of them.

After the coming season Holloway will be on a bunch of P5 opening short lists.

I’ll also add just for farts and gigs that Ballo had 13 points and 21 boards in the FAU game this year (that Zona lost, in fairness) and Goldin fouled out in 23 minutes.

I’m not overly worried about their frontcourt.

Vlad did put up 23 points in 19 minutes against Illinois......and fouled out.

Somto Cyril (6'10" Kentucky decommit) commits to Georgia.

Calipari was able to make up for him not committing to Arkansas instead by getting a commitment today from James Aidoo (Tennessee), one of the best bigs still in the portal.

Northern Illinois forward Xavier Amos commits to Wisconsin.  Amos averaged 13.8 pts and 5.8 rebounds at NIU.  Okay commitment, but what Wisconsin has not been bringing in the same caliber of transfers that left.

The upside?

  • He's a true big
  • He's from Atlanta so he probably knows Ya, Myles Rice, Jakai, and Kannan C

The downside?

  • He's a terrible basketball player

I've never watched him play. Looking at his recruiting profile, he had a decent list of Power 5 offers. 4 star recruit, number 17 center in his class., 119 overall.

When you say terrible...how terrible we talking haha.

And on a pretty bad team no less.

Those Georgetown teams have been pretty bad...hard pass.

Hoping we can land the Monmouth kid.

J.T. Toppin, 6'9" PF from New Mexico, enters.  Three years eligibility remaining.   Started 35 games as a freshman.  12.4 points and 9.1 rebounds per game, 1.9 blocks per game.  Has shown some perimeter skill, making 11 of 32 (34%) from three.

Watched this kid all last season. Serious upside under the rim. His numbers don't show it but he is an outstanding rebounder. He has really good moves against bigger and stronger opponents.

Looks to me like he could join a rotation with MR and Ballo.  And three years of eligibility left to boot!
