Big ten school, closer to home, already recruited him, Purdue has no scholarships left so he cant go there, and we literally just took a top 10 C recruit who struggled to get playing time and turned him into a 1st Rounder. It just makes too much sense. NO, NO ,NO. 5-star recruit and could only average 9 min/game on a mediocre Spartan team. He ain't no Kel'el Ware that will blossom in Bloomington. He doesn't want to work that hard and get dirty on the inside. Wants to stand outside and jack 3s. go iu bb and bigrod 2 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted March 11, 2024 Posted March 11, 2024 Penn senior Clark Slajchert has submitted the paperwork to enter the transfer portal, he tells @On3sports. Stuhoo Posted March 11, 2024 Posted March 11, 2024 Here are the 'going into college ball scouting reports' for Xavier Booker and Kel'el Ware. They are different people and who knows if Booker could "get it" the way that Ware has. But take a look: one is Player A and one is Player B. Can any of you tell which is which? Player A oozes with natural talent and elite upside. He has vastly improved from this time last year to his senior summer this year. He has great size and length plus some complimenting skill as he shows great hands with nice touch out to the arc. He is fluid for a player his size and runs the floor with a smooth gait. Player A is a long way from being a finished product but has the raw tools, potential, and touch to be a serious problem on both ends of the floor. His production will increase once he understands the importance of keeping his motor running in high gear and gains comfort in playing through physicality. Player B is a skilled forward with the height to also play modern center at the next level. He’s extremely mobile, plays with fluidity and has both bounce and length. The 6-foot-11 big has the ability to operate in the paint, but really has more of a perimeter-oriented game. Given the way the game is played at the NBA level today, his skill set is one that any team could use. What makes Player B so valuable is his ability to space the floor. He has an effortless jumper and a quality face-up game as well. He can also put the ball on the deck and passes well for his size. He’s very unselfish and has good vision for a big. With that in mind, he’ll need to show flashes of aggression at the college level to give a taste of just how high his offensive ceiling is. Class of '66 Old Fart 1 Quote

Look say what you will about Woody, but he certainly won't allow that haha, those were a lot of people's complaints about KW as well Besides, we could do worse than settling for a 3 from a 35% shooter J34 and thebigweave 2 Quote

Booker is lazy and doesn't have Ware's motivation. But which one is the unmotivated/lazy one? “Player A/B's freshman season has been a disaster since ... mid-December,” wrote ESPN’s Jonathan Givony earlier this month. “He hasn’t been able to bring the competitiveness or intensity needed in games or practices to earn any trust or momentum from coach Izzo/ Altman, and his feel for the game has been severely lacking. Player B/A will need to perform very well in the pre-draft process, especially in interviews, to combat the significant negativity that is currently surrounding him off the court.” The biggest difference is that unlike Ware, Booker is fairly close to home already and hasn't been thrown under the bus by his freshman year coach. A court granted an injunction against the NCAA's enforcement of the two-time transfer rule, making all transfers immediately eligible. Plus the NCAA is unlikely to win that case or overturn the temp injunction, so until Congress steps in, it's complete free agency. J34, thebigweave, RaceToTheTop and 3 others 5 1 Quote

These two averaged 6 and 3 ppg in the same conference. Expecting them to come in and be anything but a 9th-10th man is setting yourself up for a rough season. Would we even be talking about them if they weren't from Indiana? It's about roles. Goode doesn't need to average 15 ppg playing alongside Domask and Shannon. You know why Domask and Shannon get to the rim whenever they want? Because a guy like Goode spreads the floor. If you think Woodson is going to land 3-4 guards in the portal under the assumption they are all going to average 14-15 ppg playing the lead guard role, well then you're nuts. A guard who can hit 2-3 three pointers a game at 40% clip and space the floor is the type of player this team desperately missed this year. str8baller 1 Quote
Hoosier2014 Posted March 11, 2024 Posted March 11, 2024 Booker is exactly what we need if all he does is stand around the 3 on offense. I'm sure that's exaggerated and he would also be perfectly fine in lobs too. We need a stretch 5 on O and rim protector on D. Sign him up! Quote

Not guy who is at same level and not productive. Those are all the stars right now. We have so many perimeter holes right now that you're going to need at least 3 guards. We still need shooters. Luke Goode can play 20-25 mpg scoring 7-8 ppg playing in front of friends and family every night while getting paid handsomely to do so. I see zero downside bringing on a player like Luke Goode. Would probably help in the recruitment of Jalen Blackmon considering they were Indy Heat teammates. MemphisHoosier 1 Quote

Ware played well when he actually saw the floor last season, he was simply behind two upperclassmen former 5* centers. Not sure Woodson can afford to play Booker 25 minutes a game next year while still developing. go iu bb and MemphisHoosier 2 Quote
