Appears to be Tennessee for Knecht. I have zero clue how they are going to make their scholarship numbers work. Amazes me that Barnes was able to sell that playing time to two good transfers.

Tennessee boards are claiming Knecht is making his decision tonight

I am aware that various places that have been repeatedly wrong are saying this, yes. Anyone got this from Knecht? Anyone with a journalistic reputation to sully saying so publicly?

It might be the case that he’s committing to UT tonight, as I said, no knowledge otherwise. See a lot of fake insiders saying so on Twitter to justify the money they’re throwing at various pay sites.

So you are saying once you lose momentum then you can never regain it. Let's look at a HOF coach Jay Wrights first 11 years at Villanova. You will see a lot of ups and downs on these years.

19-13

15-16

18-17

24-8

28-5

22-11

22-13

30-8

25;8

21-12

13-19

20-14

You can but it isn't easy.  And Jay Wright was 40 when Villanova hired him, not in his mid 60s, so they had more time to give.

If you can predict the future, tell us what the lottery numbers will be this wrek. How is the momentum gone. We improved this year from last year and made  the tournament both years. We have no clue how we will play next year and our roster is far from set.

The momentum is gone because we are having a down year in recruiting and barring a huge surprise we are going to have a less successful year

Oh.. wow. Scary - do I lose RaceToTheTop points? What are the worth? - own your own

Just because I don’t want to agree with you when you are wrong? Got it

Not sure what I'm 'trying to own'.  The post about 'owning when I am wrong' wasn't my post.

The older I get, the more I know that I don't know.  Also understand that talking down to someone doesn't make me any more or less correct but is a surefire way to have people stop listening.

And that right there is the argument for Woodson. He needs a little bit more time. But right now, we are not in same league as these “football” schools

Call me when even one of them gets to the Final Four.

Knecht may commit tonight.  Maybe to Tennessee.  Maybe to Oregon.  Maybe he doesn't commit for a week, maybe he ends up at neither place.  I do know that these are the same people on the Tennessee board that were saying Ledlum was not coming to Tennessee.

How do you know that next year will be a down year. The season is 7 months away and plenty of players still in the portal. Everybody thought Purdue would have a down year last year after losing to Ivey but ended up being better

It’s a slippery slope for sure. It just seems the staff has a really hard time selling what we can offer.  We are starting to build some evidence of recruiting struggles.  (Sure-we got Ware-we have some wins). But we aren’t winning enough to build a roster that basketball heads say, damn, look out for Indiana.  That’s the level I’m hoping for.

Now basketball heads are wrong at times and teams either surprise or disappoint and I’d be fine with that too, but I’ve never wanted to be David when you are trying to be Goliath.

gotta stack multiple recruitng wins and make a formidable overall team.  Next years projected roster has more question marks than anybody wants to deal with.

If Tenn pulls both Ledlum and Knecht, lol.  This staff has suffered some strong L’s and this one will rank right up there.

If Tennessee gets both with their scholarship crunch and we can't get either with room and playing time....

We just lost the real National Player of the year and a One and done talent.  As well as 2 other starters.

And we have added exactly one instant impact player. We MIGHT be better or the same next year. But there is no sane argument for it.

If Tenn gets both, then people need to take notes on how they did it.  Some of the scenarios on the Tennessee board about how they get under the limit are just nuts, like Julian Phillips staying in the draft.  Kid was an 8 and 5 player as a freshman who didn't display a jump shot at all and is mocked to go late in the second round if he were to go out.

The argument seems to become TJD held us back by playing through him and when the offense opens up players will blossom.

Who knows?  I have an idea though.

I rather be David because he beat Goliath and isn't winning is what you want

I wouldn't call Knecht a loss because we we not really involved with him

This is the kind of logic that had us hold onto Crean and Archie too long. The momentum is already gone. If after the momentum is over you aren’t making small incremental progress then you are kind of done for
How do you know the momentum is gone? That is purely conjecture on your part. I don't know if it is or not , but we are only 2-3 weeks from the end of the season.

I guess current players can't develop and the new players can't be better than expected.  I have seen teams lose great players and we're better without them.  I am not saying we will but it is possible and rather look for positives instead of always looking for negatives. Purdue lost Ivey a top 5 pick plus two there starters and they ended up having a better year.
