I'm actually glad/excited that we aren't winning this off-season!  I think that will bode well for season success and fans will be pleasantly surprised.  I like the talent and demeanor of these players DDV has brought in!

I keep saying Buzz is gonna win. And he will quickly. Indiana has an UPhill battle this year. Glad the W/Ls aren’t on paper because we are getting killed there. Felt like DeVries is just trying to skirt into the tournament with this roster.

Sorry, but this is a strange reaction to Maryland picking up passmore.  Dude was horrible at Kansas last year in the time he was on the floor.

There's a big gap between recruiting on Duke's level and filling your roster with a bunch of mid major players

I’m sure Duke will be just fine but their strategy might not seem as shiny without a Cooper Flagg on the roster.

Florida went hard after midmajor dudes and made it payoff eventually.  It’s the wild wild west out here.

Agree there is a big gap on recruiting on Dukes level however most these mid major players IU signed were wanted by other high major teams that have had way more success then IU has had the last couple years.   Got to start somewhere.   Beating out tourney teams for players is a good start in my opinion

I hope you're right.  I really do.  But my sunshine pump broke years ago

It’s the culmination of the moves he’s made in short time.  Not this move individually.  But attacking my lukewarm Indiana basketball takes is en vogue.  I’m hoping for a Cig like surprise from our roster this fall so we can all celebrate victories together.

Maryland rebuilt their roster just like IU did.  IU’s class is ranked 9th, Maryland’s is 16th.  You seem strangely attracted to the thought that unless a player came from a P5 they aren’t any good.

Not at all, it’s case dependent. I think the margin for error is much bigger for the mid major kids. P5 kids, you see it against like talent. I like the mid major gamble on some kids. I LOVED Knecht that off-season. I love Wilkerson this off-season. (I like Reed a lot). A couple others as well. However a roster full of them that haven’t been in it, to me is a big gamble. Not that it can’t work. It very well could. I feel like the gamble is bigger than a school like Indiana with our Nil budget should risk.

I don’t rate Indiana and Maryland as equal Jobs. My expectations for us are higher than what they would be if I was a Maryland fan.

In the end for me everything is measured against expectations.

Who do you think finishes the season ranked higher, Indiana or NC State? Genuine question.

Indiana.  But I’m not sure why we switched from Indiana/Maryland to Indiana/NC State.

But the roster isn’t full of mid majors. We have Big East, Big 12 and SEC players on the roster. If Goode and/or Leal come back, we’ll have a third to 40% of the roster with big boy conference experience.

Feel like the bold is a more than fair take that I agree with to a large extent. I don’t think you are as negative as others seem to. It’s fair to be skeptical at this point but I don’t think our NIL means we could have done better. I think it’s a coach with a blueprint that we have to see in action. Last several coaches haven’t worked out so hard to trust that in the offseason, I get it. People are way underrating Maryland though. It’s a great campus, good school, nice area, etc. Has a lot going for it that makes it easy to recruit to. And they’re more successful than IU has been in these kids lifetimes. As for NC state, we will see. Personalities aside… Wade and McCollum have won at crazy rates. If they can do it in P5 will be interesting to follow. 74 days til we see them in Puerto Rico

Can’t wait to see it in action. Hope the doubters and I get proven wrong straight away. Also hope we are securing NIL investments to stay on our rung of the ladder or advance a bit.

I absolutely love Football being elite and want that to stay and I’m curious if we can straddle both sports.

All similarly ranked teams. Just feeling out your confidence on our roster and coach.

We probably should be ranked above both of them by a fair margin by seasons end in NIL expectations. On paper we are near equals to start.

Because the ACC is terrible and any half decent team can run off a few unbeaten weeks and get ranked by the pollsters. Maryland and Indiana won’t have that luxury.

Lville finished the season ranked higher than Michigan and Kentucky last year despite them being obviously better teams.

Still, Louisville was a top 30 team last year.  That's pretty impressive considering they spent the previous 2 or 3 years outside the top 200.

PJ Haggerty to Kansas St. According to Zagoria, so take it with a gianta$$ grain of salt, he’s getting 2 mil plus an incentive pkg. If that’s correct K-State needs to pay me 100k or so to not watch them. I know he’s a good player but I caught all the wrong games because I’ve never seen him be that guy.
