Next Iowa coach got his work cut out for him.  I think this is #5.

Iowa’s Ladji Dembele is portaling. 6-8 sophomore averaged 4.5 PTS and 3.5 REB in 17 minutes per game this season. Will consider a return to Iowa. Represented by @Gazelle_Sports

I will say if they get McCollum that the guys that were there are all going to be gone -- completely different skill set that McCollum and McCaffrey look for.

There have been guys who had been at five in five years that had a COVID year.  Believe there was someone that was even six in six with a COVID and redshirt.

Long Beach State’s Devin Askew is entering the transfer portal, per @TiptonEdits. The 6’5” guard started 32/32 games averaging 18.9 points, 4.6 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 1.5 steals per game, and shot 38% from 3 (68/181). Askew previously played at Kentucky, Texas, and Cal.

 

His next stop will be his 6th!

Jalil Bethea, Miami (F) entering the portal.  Freshman shooting guard was Miami's highest rated recruit ever (7th in the class of 2024).

Played 19 minutes per game, averaged 7.1 points, 2.1 rebounds, 1.2 assists.  Shot 37/33/82.

He is the same class as Khristian Lander and reclassed when Lander did, too. Both were 5 stars. Askew might have been top 10 in the class.

Henley left DePaul and UNLV because his coaches were fired. I don’t find that odd in this climate.

That being said, I believe he’s a meh player and somebody I’m not losing sleep over.

Track record on reclass small guards is poor. Probably a different story if they’re reclassifying “back” to their normal grade year than jumping a year but I’d stay away were it up to me (not specific to Askew, just mean in general)

FWIW, I am going to be posting guys I think are capable of filling out a power 5 roster, whether it is at IU or elsewhere and whether it's a starter or end of the rotation guy.  I'm not suggesting any guy is a fit for IU...there is a separate thread for IU interest.
