And that stat has nothing to do with end game coaching. That stat has to do with a macro issue of the program.

My comment has nothing to do with the current pissing match you are involved in. We did finish the game shooting 71% from the line fwiw.

It was a good move by Archie to use the fouls the team had under the 7 before Northwestern would go 1-and-1 in order to cut almost in half the final 7 seconds of the game. That is standard but it was good he knew to do it. The thing about Archie is he is by the book. But he is not creative, not innovative, which is why the offense is so predictable and sluggish.

OFF-TOPIC.

But Rob is starting to remind me of Verdell Jones. He'd be great for a good stretch and then suddenly disappear from the face of earth. To Rob's credit, he's still an elite defender in this league but offensively he's very inconsistent.

Verdell had a sweet pull up and could finish. He is light years bettter than Rob offensively!

I wish we had Verdell. Would have a perimeter player with endless confidence.

Yeah, his 29% 3PT% would fit right in. Getting pretty loose with the perimeter adjective there

Yeah like Bow said I don't think they are alike at all. Good at opposite things. One area I'll agree on is that like Verdell, Rob can be a black hole of sorts. I remember Verdell would dribble the air out of the ball.

His mid range game seemed to be his strong suit from what I remember though

Definitely, but from my view we have plenty of guys who can do that already. What we don't have is someone who can consistently drill a 3. They'd probably sit a lot due to the defense but someone like Zeisloft or JBJ is what I can't understand about Archie's recruiting these past 4 seasons. The shooting woes are apparent to anyone who watches more than 5 games from IU - yet we can't seem to bring anyone into the program who has that skill set from the jump.

Whatever one thinks of Verdell Jones, he will forever be a key player in one of the most dramatic winning moments in IU history. Even without that I think he was better than Phinisee. But Rob still has time to redeem himself.

It's crazy to think about but 3 more free throws (going from 66.4% to 67.1% on the season) could have netted 3 more wins.  Of course, that were if they were made in the right game.  (basically a lot of what ifs)  This team could be 14-5, probably in the top 15 in the country, 5-4 in Quad 1 games, and looking at a 4 or 5 seed in the tourney.  Crazy how fine of a line (pun intended) it is!

Having 4 home losses is a seed killer.    IU’s road and neutral record is really good. If they would of won a couple more home games they definitely would of had a top 5 seed

I just hope the players realize the bolded above. IMO, there's only a few teams we can't play competitively against (if we're doing the little things right and being consistent). Just really frustrating. Sometimes I feel like we're playing above our ceiling and talent, other times I think we're underachieving. Still haven't figured it out.

Very odd. Do you think the very good road/neutral "pro" outweighs the con of the bad home record.

Such a strange year, at both the macro (national) and micro (team) level. There's a lot of strange resumes out there too. The list of traditional blue bloods outside the top 25 is really twilight zone stuff too.

I just hope they stick with 68/64 this year instead of cutting the at large teams and going 48 or even smaller. Should be a great year for upsets.

Yeah definitely the road record out weighs the bad home record.  Only bad loss of the bunch is to Northwestern.    Those home losses just hold back IU from being a team competing for a top 5 seed(1-20) to a team that is still a tourney team but competing for a lower seed.   Definitely an odd year.   As bad as IU has looked at times this year the only 2 games that they didn’t have chance to win during the last 5 min of a game was Texas and Purdue.  I wouldn’t worry about them shrinking the tournament down.  I fully expect it to be the full 68 bracket of teams.   I’m not sure why Lunardi does a bracket for the limited number of teams.    Going to be a fun couple of weeks starting with championship week ( my second favorite week of college basketball)

Agreed.

And I'm not sure why they do a cut down either. I guess there still could be some unexpected stuff happen, like outbreaks at the conference championships.

Going to be really fun if it stays 64/68 IMO. I could see several small conference schools going deep.
