Class of '66 Old Fart

IUBB vs Penn State - 12/29/20 @ 8:30 on BTN

From his radio show, you can tell CAM really likes his freshmen and wants to work them into playing time. Given the older players he also has, he walks a fine line here. Chemistry is hard to attain and easy to lose. That's why giving minutes to the younger guys has to be performance based. I trust that CAM will make the right moves.

Agreed. We really need his versatility on the court. He's someone who can play both forward spots in college. This season he just doesn't seem to care. I'd say try starting him to see if they lights a fire under his butt, but I don't know. This is kind of a free season for everyone since you can return next season and it seems like Phinisee, Durham and Hunter are treating just like that. An unimportant free year.

Start Hunter? Umm, please no

You'll never get any performance out there if you don't play them. Impossible to get a feel and find a groove without being on the court.

Maybe things have changed, because it has been a really long time, but when I played game time was earned in practice. I wasn't in the same universe as our players, but I have to think the same principle applies. Guys who work in practice get rewarded. If you do it some other way, you're asking for problems.

Damn straight.

At the risk of sounding old and citing RMK theories, I remember a whole bunch of games where Kriegh Smith, Tony Brown, or the like started because they had a great week in practice.

For instance, during the 1987 last championship season, we had a dominant five in minutes played: Alford, Thomas, Smart, Garrett, and Calloway. We had eleven different players start that season.

Nice motivator, eh?

3rd game into a 20 game conference slate. Everyone is going to get plenty of appropriate minutes.
Doesn’t matter who starts either. If you’re out there, you’re valuing possessions and playing tough defense, or working balls off trying. If you’re not, you don’t get s***. End of story.
Let play some fricken basketball!! Enough of the “confidence” bull crap. Enough of the indecisive bull crap.
Enough of the sloppy bull crap.
Go out on the floor, shake hands with the guy who’s guarding you, and then beat that MF like his momma used to.

Give me,

TJD

RACE

AL

FRRANK

TREY

Rob needs to show he can score the basketball again. Let’s get TJD going, he looked like a mid major center vs UI. We have to put 40 minutes together. We can put together 32 minutes, let’s get the extra eight tonight.

Give me

Trayce and Race

Galloway

Franklin

Phin

Phin needs to be aggressive from the tip, looking to attack the lane and distribute the ball.  If he starts going through the motions then yank him and put Al in then move Franklin over to run point.  I want Al on the wing catching and shooting or attacking angles.  Franklin got it going after a few games and it's time for one of Al or Phin to do the same.
