Seeing people like Andrew Slater post the OV videos (not a retweet) makes me wonder how IU gets around the not talking/naming recruits violations with those videos. Maybe they just give them to the recruits and then the recruits not only post the videos themselves but give them to others to post? If IU is giving the videos to people like Slater to post I would think that would be a violation.

Most likely a screen recording (iPhone screen recording is really powerful) or they reach out to the recruit and ask for it. Don't think there's any chance IU is sending the videos to writers.

Another option, although it doesn't appear Slater used it, is you can very subtly share a video on Twitter to where it looks like it is your own. You can only tell by a very small tag in the lower left corner of the tweet showing who the original poster is.

This guy put a fairly ridiculous amount of effort into comparing and contrasting rankings, so we don’t have to. 
The 247 rating of Fland, assuming it’s not a compilation error of some kind, is just a stone misevaluation.

Purely for reference, I have the following as players with varying degrees of IU interest playing for Overtime Elite and there could easily be some additional names that I don't have on my list:

• Mikel Brown, Jr.
• Tyler Jackson
• Darryn Peterson
• Bryson Tiller

And because we know he's going to decommit from PUke and come to IU --  Kanon Catchings.

Tyler Jackson Best playmaker. Pushes the pace. Knows how to create and find others. Passes well in open floor or tight spaces.

Staff hitting the road pretty hard so an update on the 23-24 NCAA recruiting calendar might be helpful.

• September 7 – October 14, 2023: Contact period
• October 15, 2023 through the date of the prospective student-athlete’s initial high school or two-year college contest: Quiet period
• November 6 (7 a.m.) –8 (7 a.m.), 2023: Dead period
• The period between the prospective student-athlete’s initial and final high school or two-year college contests: Evaluation period
• March 1 – April 3, 2024: Contact period
• April 4 – 9 (noon), 2024: Recruiting/contact period (exceptions below)
• Evaluations shall be permitted at any all-star contest held during the final weekend of the NCAA DivisionI Men’s Basketball Championship in the host city (Phoenix): Evaluation period
• April 9 (noon) – May 20, 2024: Contact period
• During any high school all-star game that occurs within the state in which the member institution is located: Evaluation period
• All other dates: Quiet period

The NCAA defines the quiet period as a time when “a college coach may not have face-to-face contact with college-bound student-athletes or their parents off the college campus and may not watch student-athletes compete or visit their high school.” To break it down, the NCAA Quiet Period is a time you can talk to college coaches in-person on their college campus. However, the coach is not allowed to watch athletes compete in-person, visit their school, talk to them at their home—or talk to them anywhere outside of the college campus.

Johnson’s name came up last winter as having an IU offer, but never saw any evidence that it was true. Creighton’s a nice landing spot for anyone.

Unlikely to not a chance: Perry, Ngongba, Dylan Harper.

 

Staff I think feels good about Queen and Fland but both are looking like long odds to me. 
 

Im not sure what to think as the Staff really wants to get 3-4 from 2024 and use Tportal as it’s back up.  But if we only get McNeeley, we will have to be big time players in the TP.

Ultimately I have faith the staff can put a strong team together but I really hope they can fulfill their dream of having a top 5 class with Queen and either Boateng or Fland.

Well, I think it’s still in play. Lol.  I leave it in the ether.  
 

And Stu, yeah, seems like a perennial thing at this point.  All I can say is I love the transfer portal, for the most part, because recruiting hope gets continued.  You have 2 chances to put together a good class.  
 

I am starting to think we might need it. 
 

adam Howard and the staff seemed SUPER confident about the 24 class but one by one targets have diminished.  Pickings are getting thin and the top dogs are after a lot of the same guys.

Probably our recent history of not getting a big class and missing on the long recruits for 5* kids but I worry that we are in a “all eggs in one basket” position.  Give Woody and the staff credit for getting the 5* kids to officially visit but if we miss, we miss big. 
 

There is that saying, Lose big, lose close, win, then win big.  Hopefully we aren’t in the lose close stage but have moved to win or win big.
