We Have TWO Open Schollys For Next Year?!?

Recommended Posts

This is the only thing I can come up with as to why Archie is continuing to play the same players.

A) He feels they are the best option to win and he feels like he is fighting for his job.

or

B) He is being forced to by the administration and that's why he hasn't been able to show anyone the door.

or

C) He has gotten his $ and doesn't have the fight he did at Dayton. He's gotten lazy and lost his edge which is why his teams aren't as well coached.

I honestly don't know what else to think.

Yes I see what your saying, send a message for a short time. I've known Cooper Bybee all his life. But I crack up when people say put him in. He couldn't guard a chair in high school, but now a few years later he's going to guard someone in the Big Ten.

I get it but putting him in for a couple minutes here or there shouldn't kill your defense and could at least send a message. That's all I'm saying and besides he is shooting 100% from the field on the season lol.

First thought is B, I also mix in he's stubborn. I think there is more too it but just hard to explain. I've coached the same 14 kids for the last 3 years, top 7 are pretty good, a huge drop off to #8. Top 7 have an attitude this year when I get on them like screw you coach, bench me and play the other guys and lose. Which I did a few times. But do you play the kids with more talent and try to figure it out or just scrap it all.

He may think it, but he still clearly doesn’t do it and still goes inside for 7/8 of his shots on average.

That's the compromise that was made 6 shots inside and we will let you take a couple outside. The problem is he takes them at the worst times.

Then you either have something against Smith or overvalue the rest of the team.

Yes, those are clearly the only two possible options.

I get it. We just kicked one of our starters off our team and he was playing extremly well. Will the team take a hit? More than likely but it was the right thing to do and sometimes you just need to rip the band aid off.

Sorry, but there should be no compromise.  Archie said what he thought Knight's best quality was having guys know their roles and play to their strengths, but he seems incapable of doing that.  That is a form of being soft, and clearly that softness permeates the team.

Ask anyone who is around this team at practice, shoot around, summer workouts, fall workouts about his basketball IQ and they will tell you it's nonexistent.

That is why I would not play Green anymore personally and if Smith is as bad as they say then him too.

I hate to say it but IMO Troy shot it much better. Troy also hustled a little more. Gave better effort and didn't have near as many excuses as Justin has. Always someone else's fault

Troy minus some shooting plus quite a bit of defense is a useful player.

Yea because no one else on the team shoots bad 3’s right? Literally everyone does. And over this 4 game losing streak, he’s shooting 2-4 from 3. He didn’t even shoot one against OSU. The team doesn’t exactly go or not go with or without his offense. But he’s our 2nd best player. He’s got a higher b-ball IQ than pretty much everyone else except maybe Brunk and TJD. Robs is average. Durhams is low. Greens is... I’m not really sure anymore I guess it depends on the moment. Franklin just doesn’t have the experience yet so he still has his freshman moments. So you may say he’s dumb on the court but we don’t exactly have a team of Basketball geniuses and that includes the staff.

He definitely looks at things through a different lens than most. I did find myself agreeing with most of what he said yesterday so I went home a took a long shower :-)

Sure. So then I’m guessing someone steals Durhams when game time starts? Greens? Anderson’s? Those players consistently make worse decisions than Smith.

Al and Anderson IMO are just not very good but Al is a coach's son, he knows basketball just doesn't have the talent. Green just doesn't care. We will agree to disagree. Did you see the post where I said I agreed with a lot with what you were saying?

Al might be a coaches son but unless the Monstars are stealing his game before he walks out, he’s not a high IQ guy and makes some of the worst and laziest passes on the team and is the only one who like to go 1 on 5 on a fast break. If you’re going to attack Smith for doing what he’s best at, then you gotta dish out to everyone.
