6 seconds left and running, everyone runs away from the ball to throw it in

Yep.  Should have at least called a TO immediately after the ball cleared the net.  Instead, we watched 3+ seconds run off the clock and had Durham race down and chuck up a prayer.

Still, this one's nowhere near out of reach.

After Maryland made that last shot, we wasted 3 of the last 7 seconds because there was no hustle to get the ball in.  Maybe they should have worked on that in practices?

This is my issue with teams, not just IU. One person specifically takes it out instead of just getting it and go. Always frustrating.

Again, it's a strategy that isn't used much....but at 24.6 seconds, they are going to take the clock and get the last decent look.  Best case:  we get a stop and we go to half down 7.  Worst case, they hit a two or three and we go in down 9 or 10.

Better strategy:  foul their worst free throw shooter.  He gets a 1 and 1....let's say their worst free throw shooter hits 60%.  That's a 40% they get zero points on free throws, 36% chance they get 1, and 24% chance they get 2.

In that strategy, worst case is they go up 9 points but we have possession.  Best case, we are down 7 and have plenty of time to set up the offense for a final possession.

Already used 2, one early when MD were unconscious from 3 and the other Rob used on a baseline play cuz we don't set screens on inbound plays.

Not much you can do when a team is unconscious from deep, geez. I know we left them open some but there’s not much you can do about this. IU has had a good overall performance. Only thing that stinks is we can’t buy a bucket in close. Joey can’t hit and neither can Justin around the basket. Would be a tied game or closer making those short ones

The flip side is we’re hitting threes at a clip that’s unheard of this season. All in all, I’ll take the offensive performance this half any day even with the missed bunnies. Defense needs to tighten up a lot though.

As much as I'd like to gripe about MD shooting out of their minds (and they are), we're shooting uncharacteristically well from beyond the arc as well.  And yes we've left a lot of points on the floor on missed shots inside 8 feet.

Wake just made three FTs with 1.7 seconds left to tie the game and force OT against U.Va. ... I honestly can't think of who I'd want on the line for us in that situation ... (Well, Hulls or Alford -- but I'm pretty sure they've used up their eligibility).

Then put rob back in for the final possession.

Would have needed to call a TO. They weren't going to have Rob in for the final possession on D with 2 fouls. They should have communicated early to have Green take it to push on the last possession. He's obviously reckless but better able to make something happen against pressure like that

Small sample size.

80 free throws is not a small sample size.  And in 203 career free throw attempts, he's a 77% shooter.  He's decent there.  Even since Jan 1st when he's struggled a little bit, he's over 70%.

I thought we still had one.  Whatever the case, we whizzed away too many ticks.

Hulls was awful in clutch situations. I preferred Watford at the line in those scenarios, honestly.

I agree. Hulls really lost it a bit towards the end of the season.
