Can the Hoosiers go dancing?

I want Romeo and Juwan to get to the dance. NIT run would be good for the team, but I want those two in the tournament. They’ve busted their @$$ this year.   Juwan deserves a chance to play in the tournament before he’s gone.

Totally agree...just trying to temper my expectations in case we're bumped out due to some bid stealers.

Here's what we should really hope happens. Marquette wins the Big East tournament, leaving no doubt they'll still be a quad 1 win for us. Minnesota and Ohio St. win their last game of the season. I think OSU is currently #48 and Minny #54 in the NET. If we play one of them in the #8/#9 game, and they are in the NET top 50, that's another opp for a quad 1 win. Even with a loss against Mich/MSU, at 18-15, I just can't see a team with 7 quad 1 wins being left out.

Here's the possible nightmare scenario. Marquette continues to struggle and slides another couple of spots. We lose a quad 1 win. Ohio St. and Minnesota both lose their last game, which is very possible. We play one of them in the 8/9 BTT game and both are just outside of the top 50, on a neutral court, that's only a quad 2 win opportunity. 18-14 w/ 5 quad 1 wins may put the committee in a mindset that our game against Mich/MSU is a win and get in game. I hate that.

Note: this ^^ is all assuming I understand the NET and quad systems correctly. I think I do, but someone correct me if I'm off on something here.

I did not see us on the bubble in any projections today sadly.

The nice way to look at it is, 5 quad 1 wins is still head and shoulders above almost every other bubble team. I think the closest right now is 3 on the bubble. I still think 5 is enough to do it at 18-15 to get us in. Name recognition and having a guy like Romeo that they can tout as a lottery pick/future NBA player can only help

SB Nation has us as the final 4 in and first on the line to get a bye. Before yesterday’s game bracket matrix had us in 9 brackets as 11 and 12 seeds. ESPN has us as the first 4 out. If we win Sunday and NC State loses we will most likely take their spot or the spot of the loser of the TCU/Texas game this week. That game is essentially a bubble buster game.

Lunardi has them in the last 4 out, palm has column welcoming IU back on the bubble. Haslametrics has them in the last 4 in. Delphi brackets have them on the bubble. Which projections you looking at?

Palm is rated in the 70’s per bracketmatrix

Bracketville the #2 ranked bracketologists have IU in as one of the last 4 in as of this morning. I wouldn’t get caught up with these so-called ”expert” bracketologists like Lunardi (ESPN) and Palm (CBS Sportsline). They are ranked 68th and 82nd...they’ve proven to not be so accurate at the end of the day. Delphi #1 ranked has us right there as the final bubble team not in but says things look good for us.

In other words:

OPTION 1:

  1. Beat Rutgers
  2. Win the first round BTT game
  3. Lose the next to UM or MSU

18-15 = In the NCAAs

______________________________________________________

OPTION 2:

  1. Lose to Rutgers
  2. Win three BTT games, two of which would be against top 20 teams

19-16 = In the NCAAs

_______________________________________________________

Anything less than option 1 or 2?

OUT

I wouldn’t feel good with 16 losses regardless

This isn't about your feelings    ;)

But but, everything is centered around me!

Our quad 1 wins would be ridiculous but 16 losses.. it’s never happened before right? The 19 wins would be nice and almost half would be quad 1 without any bad losses. I just can’t see us winning 3 straight in the BTT or getting in with 16 losses.

The fact that students will be on break for the game Sunday scares me A LOT. Not near the same atmosphere without the students and our players feed off their energy. If you look back to the Christmas break games, we probably played some of our worst basketball and those cupcake games were a lot closer than they should’ve been.

Only one kind of bubblicious game tonight

NET 55 Minnesota (19-11) at 28 Maryland (21-9)

130 Austin Peay (22-10) vs 44 Belmont (25-4)

If Minnesota wins they’re definitely in. If they lose and then lose to an Illinois (possible quad 3) in their first BTT game they could be sweating it out.

Edit: added Belmont
