Popular Post ray Posted December 17, 2018 Popular Post Posted December 17, 2018 I've never started a topic before, but with Juwan being the workhorse and leader he is, I thought this would be both fun and deserving to keep track of. Juwan is currently slotted between Jared Jeffries and Butch Joyner at number 51 on IU's all-time career scoring leaders with 1,020 points. He needs 11 points to move ahead of Butch Joyner and reach the top 50. As we all know Juwan Morgan is far from average, but with 20 games remaining and a current average of 17ppg, he could reach the top 25 before the Big Ten Tournament begins (if his scoring remains average). This would put him at 1,360 career points, passing Uwe Blab by 13 points to become the 25th all-time scorer. An additional 6 points in the Big Ten Tournament would move him into 24th, surpassing Andrae Patterson. With a little post-season success for IU (and if Juwan can maintain his current average), he could "easily" find himself in the top 20. Now, before anyone comes along and says, "Yeah, but there's no way he maintains that kind of average", please just let this play out. I, for one, have nothing but love and respect for Juwan and I believe he deserves this running tally throughout the season. Instead of doubting anything I've written (which was written purely statistically from this point in the season), please just root for him to break into the top 20. If he does, then IU's tournament success might likely be better than some of us have predicted. Thanks! HoosierAloha, ALASKA HOOSIER, GloryDays and 14 others 17 Quote

Class of '66 Old Fart Posted December 17, 2018 Posted December 17, 2018 Never ever would have expected to see Verdell Jones that high on the list. Just never considered him as a high scorer. Quote
rcbowla Posted December 17, 2018 Posted December 17, 2018 Me too. AJ was a scoring machine. Also, this shows how the early 90's were LOADED with great players. Not exactly a newsflash, but 6 of the top 14 all-time scorers overlapped during the 90-95 timeframe, plus so many other really solid contributors. Badly want IU to get back to that level, where the #4 option is still a stud and the bench is full of ballers too. True about the 90's. That's also when the 3 pt shot started being utilized more. Unfortunately for some of the guys on the list they didn't have that opportunity although they would've have lit it up from there if it were an option. Just never considered him as a high scorer. He really was just about their only option for a couple of years. So he's on there because of volume? A lot of people ripped on him (myself included) but I always wondered what he may have been on a team with talent. He actually played pretty well on the 11-12 team if I recall correctly. It was interesting to see some of the few players in the top ten or 15 in multiple categories. To name a couple...my numbers might be slightly off...and I couldn't find blocks and steals lists...but for instance, Chris Reynolds was 8th in steals and 12th in assists...and DJ White was top 15 rebs and number 3 in blocks. I know there were others, but that is about as far back as my frame of reference goes. Imagine Don Schlundt with longer games (didn't they use to have shorter games), a three-point line, the addition of a shot clock, etc. That man must have been ridiculous for his time. JHoosier914 Posted December 17, 2018 Posted December 17, 2018 If I counted correctly, JuMo has scored 190 points this season in 11 games. It’s not out of the question that he can score 400-450 more points this season with 20+ games left. That would put him near Kirk Hastons and the bunch...Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Quote

Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Yep, my theoretical post of him landing in top 25 was if he kept on pace of around 17ppg and didn't account for any BigTenTourney or NCAA tourney games. So, I would think they can at least expect 22 more games (20 more this season, 1 Big Ten tourney game, and 1 NCAA tourney game), which figuring a 17ppg average with those two additional games alone would put him only a few points from surpassing Jimmy Rayl at #23 and a few more on top of that to pass Kirk Haston. If they win only one game in either tournament and he keeps that average he'll be knocking on Robert Johnson's #21 slot. Quote

ray Posted December 17, 2018 Author Posted December 17, 2018 I can't seem to find any statistics much past top ten in rebounds, but if Juwan's average this year continues then he'll be over 700 rebounds for his career before Big Ten Tournament as well. That would surely put him in the top 25 range in rebounds as well, with Brian Evans at number 10 with 750. Quote
