Last year I saw a team that ran out of bounds plays, set screens, moved on the baseline, cut backdoor, gave effort on the defensive side of the ball. All were great signs of things to come, so I thought.  I haven't given up on Archie, but I just don't see fundamentals this year, like I did last year.

I don’t disagree I hope no matter the coach we recruit the best but man come on. Don’t prod him. No need for fights. It sucks right now. Everybody is pissed. No need to pile on that way just to fight.

I never said anything about our best year.  Just said I saw signs of fundamental basketball, and a team that progressed throughout the year, which we had lacked the previous 9 years.

I'm not in the mood for fighting about a coach, I did enough of that the last 4 years Crean was here.

Your last sentence about local recruiting was not a part of that convo. You know who that was a prod to and that isn’t the first time you went with that tonight. I have had the same discussions with him over the years. You know exactly who that was aimed at when you typed that.

One last post before I bow out tonight.  Our team is terrible at offense.  It's terrible at defense.  It's terrible in transition.  It's terrible at shooting.  It's terrible at free throws.  It's terrible at.....everything.

Have we improved?  Goodness no.  We're at the bottom of the bucket.

Some of us are upset at the thought of starting over.  Get over your feelings, it needs to happen.

Some of us are staring at numbers on a screen.  Enjoy that, we're terrible.

Some of us don't want to talk about it.  Enjoy that kitten, come join us when you're ready to deal with things.

Some of us like to blame everything that doesn't hurt, I hope you can make yourself feel strong

Me?  IU basketball?  This is vomit.  This needs to change.  Not a little.  This is the worst I've seen it.  Blow it up.  Start at the top.

I will talk about anything with the team other than a coaching change.  He has at least two more years before I concede that.  Others can talk about it, go for it, I just feel it's counter-intuitive.

Archie has to get the boys giving more effort than they have shown the last dozen games or so. That is 100% on any coach or leader. There are different ways to go about it and he needs to find one that works, fast.

With all that said, this team is lacking experience, shooters, and leaders in a bad way. I saw more give a crap out of Al then any other player tonight. That shouldn’t be happening. When you’re undersized and can’t shoot you have to outwork your opponent. We’re currently not doing that. Youth can be part of that but playing like entitled kids is the other part. I grew up knowing that IU would out hustle the other team or they would hear about it.

I haven’t given up on Archie leading this program to the top. I don’t think there’s a poster on this board as upset as Archie. We all have wonderful ideas from our couch on how to fix it (or just blowing it up and hiring “their guy”j in some cases but it’s on Archie to get this fixed. I think with time and experience he’ll get it done and hers why:

He was a fiery competitor who played above his level. He succeeded at Dayton when odds were stacked against him. He’s widely regarded as a good coach and he didn’t just forget how to coach.

He’s at a new level now where he has better talent. He needs to figure out how to get that talent playing harder like his underdog Dayton teams did. There is obviously a chemistry problem on this team. What it is, I have no idea but that needs to be fixed. A leader on the floor needs to step forward and say enough is enough. I believe, and hope, that’s Al and Phin moving forward.

Yeah I can agree with that. The boys need to get some confidence back. That 2nd half at Maryland killed this team. We need some growth from the players coming back to blend with the players coming in. Neither Brooks or TJD will come in a carry the scoring load. I think (if we get Brooks) he could be a 15ish ppg player. TJD is probably a 10 and 7 kid as a frosh. We have to have improvement elsewhere. Archie is gonna need it or people might legitimately go crazy. I mean I have seen posters argue with themselves seemingly in a single post tonight. It’s not pretty.

He will need to get some more players on the roster besides Brooks and TJD. I expect growth from the freshmen class this year, I’m not writing any of them off. I think we need a grad transfer or 2 that WILL contribute.

It's always been his M.O.    Then claim "who, me?"   The whole team sucks at the moment.  It starts at the top and filters back a few years.  Doesn't matter what zip code a kid comes from...if they won't play with effort and won't guard people, they'll lose.  Generally speaking I will stand by what I've said for years and that guy can keep coming at me (stalking me) all he wants.  Then deny he's done it for years.  Go for it.
