Iu vs michigan st 1/19/18 game thread fs1

Recommended Posts

I think we're watching the national champs right now folks. This team has zero holes and I honestly can't see them losing another game all year. It took them 2 rough losses to finally wake up and play at their potential. They will only be better in March too. Go ahead and get your blank brackets out and put Michigan State as your national champs. I already did. Wow they're good!

We'll see. MSU turns it over and can go cold in the flip of a switch. I could see them losing a FF game when they turn it over and the game is called tighter. They have a ton of talent though.

I would like to see Bridges step up in more if a leadership role. I've seen him go quiet and just let the team flow. If he takes the next leadership step they're definitely a championship contender.

PU will be bad. We have nothing for that size. OSU will be interesting I think.

Maryland will be tough because they have size. Fernando, Checksomething, and Bender all have good size.

pu has size as well. I'm expecting to see teams with good 4s start playing their big on McBob and their versatile 4 on Morgan.

Ur assuming we have Morgan. We certainly hope so but could be as bad as 4-6 weeks if high ankle sprain. Low sprain he should be back in no more than a week. However left arena on crutches (no cast) so it does not sound good.

That was painful to watch. Flush it and move forward....Hope we show up for Maryland. That game is certainly winnable at home. Disappointed. Good night Hoosier Nation—live to fight another day!!

We need to win the next two. The three after are brutal.

We certainly have a chance no matter what but without Morgan (most likely) the reality of that goes down a bit.

Hopefully archie hates getting embarrassed more than us which i would hope he does. This is a blessing in disguise. No hiding from the work that lies ahead . Lot of work to do

Yep, I'm absolutely sure he hates getting embarrassed. Even after the IPFW game he was like "i never want to experience that again"...which obviously as far as tonight goes, it was a completely different monster. I agree it's just a good lesson learned. I think most of us before the conference started chalked this one up as a loss anyways....maybe not by this much, but a loss nonetheless, which i think eases the pain a bit for the fans. We still looked like a team who cared and tried to fight the best they could, we were just literally outmatched in physicality and talent....not to mention, MSU was in a PO'd state of mind coming off those two loses. Archie has this team fighting for every last second, we just can't buy baskets. After losing to Indiana State and IPFW, i think it'd actually be safe to say we are playing better as a team now than we thought we would.

Anyone who could even begin to lay blame at coaching honestly ask yourself this question.....”If Archie took Dayton into the Breslin Center tonight, what’s the score?”

My answer....Michigan State wins by 10. The fact IU lost by 28 (my prediction to my buddy who is a huge Sparty fan was 25) wasn’t coaching. The mix of “talent” we have isn’t good together. We lack size (even before Davis and Morgan went down) shooting, and basketball IQ, just a bad “team”. Add in a floor general with high IQ, a mean big who consistently gets big boy rebounds, and a scorer who can create on his own and maybe the rest of our players nicely fill out this team and make it good. Sadly, we have none of those 3 things and that’s not on the current coach.

Spot on. No way you can blame our coach for any of this.

Low expectations, less disappointments. My motto for the season.

Better times ahead.
I think I said we'd lose by 18. We don't even win in east Lansing with good teams except once.

Yep, for sure. Archie has to deal with the hand he was dealt. I highly doubt he would have recruited hardly anyone, if any, of the players on this roster himself for one of his own classes. Being a good coach is getting the players you DO have to buy in, play together, and good things will happen. He has already done that, and his in-game decision making, substitution patterns, etc, also show how good of a coach he really is. He just "gets it". Bring in a roster full of players he has recruited himself for the type of system he wants to run and i bet you special things can and will happen. Even if we happen to not get Romeo (which i feel as if we do), the recruits he has coming in such as Phinisee, Hunter, and Anderson can flat out shoot the ball. They are scorers. They are winners. We are in good hands.
