Our team has to be either exceptional defensively or play with a better offensive tempo. If we play poorly on defense and slow on offense, it looks like that. Awful to watch. That was a horrid game. Zero offensive flow; no intensity on defense. Poorly played, poorly coached. I am disappointed. Mostly in our senior guards. That was an abysmal performance by both. I’m worried about our offense. Yeah, we put 81 on Duke, but Duke is having tons of issues on D themselves. That was an aberration. We won’t win games dumping it inside to Morgan and Davis while our guards stand around the perimeter. We can’t consistently trade 2s for 3s. Something has to change here or it’s going to be an even worse season than I thought. Quote
mdn82 Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 No one is jumping off any bridges. Just reacting to our play today. We played nearly our best with a raucous fanbase at home and lost by 10 to Duke. We play poorly and lose to an average Michigan team on the road by 15. We aren't good and it's hard to watch losses and bad play. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile appA mildly inconsistent team that will have moments is to be expected though both good and bad. IMO this game falls on our Seniors. They kicked off the game throwing the ball away. We get the game to 5, they hit a 3, and we jack back to back 3’s when we got back into it getting to the rim. We need shooters beyond bigger, active, and athletic defenders. We have nobody that can create offensively with any regularity. Juwan Morgan would be best as the 4th or 5th option regularly. He should be getting energy points. Lately he has been our 2nd option. Davis? Should also be a 4th or 5th option. He is our #1 option for the most part.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app HoosierAloha and WayneFleekHoosier 2 Quote

cappymo14 Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 You are correct. It hasn’t worked for Virginia, Wisconsin, or Arizona. I agree college level defense should be picked up and perfected with years of bad habits between them instantaneously. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile appWisconsin does not play the pack line. I know. I live 3 minutes from The hall of calls. I’ve been to 30+ games there in 5 years. Not once have they employed the pack line. How many you been to? Listen, I understand your frustration with me and I love that you are defending Archie. Want me to call it a pack line and get behind it? Fine. Next game, if they can cut it in half, get defenders within say...10 feet of the shooter, I’ll get behind it. If not, it’s the “I hope he doesn’t make it” defense.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Quote
dbmhoosier Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 For those complaining about offense we don't have any shooters. We had plenty of open 3s against Duke that we bricked. There is no Hulls or JBJ on this team. Anderson will help immensely next year. Feathery 1 Quote

Me So Hornsby Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 This team is going to play its best basketball in the 2nd half of the year, theres a lot to be positive about even after today. If we can go 6-3 in the next 9 I feel very good about our chances in the last stretch of the year. I dont see us beating MSU or Minny(on the road at least) but who knows what happens. We may sneak into the tourny this year. Next year I think we are a top 25 team by the end of the year regardless of Romeo. I will not concede that we arent going to be good until year three. I believe in Archie way too much to buy into that thought. CR3AMnCR1MS0N and Ranger78 2 Quote

Throw in a sophomore Smith and thats a great frontline in my mind. Plus Race and the potential of Moore taking a step forward. Quote
Bailey7878 Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 It works, just ask Virginia, Xaiver, etc. You need the right players for it. Archie has Crean's players. It's going to be some time before we see what Archie can do here. Exactly why the defense stinks. Crean players Sent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk Quote
dbmhoosier Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 ESPN gave us a 42% chance to beat Duke. They gave us a 22% chance to win today. I don't know why anyone is surprised with the result. Beilein is a top 5 coach and has an equal or better roster and was playing at home. Those who thought we'd win today know nothing about basketball. Feathery and Walking Boot of Doom 2 Quote

Bailey7878 Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 We are bad. It's hard to stomach a 3 year rebuild. That's a long time. The realization of a full rebuild is setting in game by game and now I think people realize we aren't turning any major corners this year. Player personnel isn't good enough. Won't be next year either. Hard to think about that. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile appNo next year won't be any better unless we get Romeo who is a must get imo. Man rebuilds are getting old at iu as it's all we do. Sent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk Quote
