2018 General Recruiting Thread

Recommended Posts

So do you think Hunter, Jallow and Henry will pass Anderson and Phinisee in the other polls?

Jallow is a 2017 recruit and shouldn't be on the list and since Hunter plays in class A for his high school team and played on the Adidas silver circuit instead of the Gold circuit in my opinion it would be hard to pass the other 2. Henry is an interesting case. He caught fire at the right time and has continued it through the summer. Henry has too much ground to gain from his play in the previous years where is ranking was in the 300's to pass the other 2 but there is no mistake he has definitely improved a ton. Can he keep improving during his senior year or did he catch lighting in a bottle with his fantastic tournament run and summer

No. They shouldn't. Jallow being above Phinisee and Anderson devalues those rankings for me.

And Hunter's high school competition is terrible so take his ranking with a grain of salt as well.

I too had doubts about Hunter because of his high school's typical level of competition.  Because he played in the Silver Division on the Adidas circuit, individual game stats weren't available.  But at the Adidas Summer Championship they were available and in those 5 games he averaged 17.4 PPG on 51% shooting; 50% on 3's (and he attempted 28 in the 5 games); 75% FT's and 4 reb.  Pretty good stats against a much much higher level of competition so my opinion has shifted.

You guys can pace the man cave while watching college basketball, drink diet cokes and talk about missed opportunities..... FUN FUN!

Don't forget about making signs for the next coaching staff to use. And don't be afraid to get creative!

Corey Evans says that IU will still be in the picture for Garland. He was open to playing some off the ball with Tre Jones and RP isnt near that level so nothing changes on that front. DeVoe may still be an option as well.

With that said, DeVoe, Garland, Romeo, Dort, Duke as it has been said he has no problem w Providence having Makai Langford, so RP doesnt change things much, Forrester, Lewzenski, Brown & possibly Sousa though I still havent seen a thing are our '18 options. Nate Hinton as well could be an option.

Sounds good in theory but I'd say that ship has sailed. We will find out officially later, but I'm quite certain our staff knows Garlands intentions. If somehow I'm wrong, Rob won't be pleased with this. Both guys are 1's, not combos. We aren't taking 2 true PGs in one class.

ESPN is the worst recruiting list out there. I use the 247 rankings more than anything.

I agree. Paul Biancardi mostly runs ESPN. Usually, It's the worst, but his rankings align with how Summer ball went.

Not that that tell the whole story or even close but that is primarily what this update indicates.

You would at least thought they they would of had Race moved to 2017 but they still had him as the 33 PF of the 2018 class. Not a high enough rated guy for them to get that taken care of
