OK, we get it. We could strike out on every prospect we are currently pursuing and end up with a crappy class that relegates the program back to mediocrity.

Let us be a little positive right now.

That's true. No reason to quit being positive.

I would love to see him in Bloomington...but only if he is wearing a cream jersey.

He's a beast physically but even in that highlight package, he seems to have questionable hands.  Not saying I wouldn't want him, but he seems to have to regrip, recatch several rebounds/passes.  Just strikes me as odd for a highlight package.

It went well. Crean's visit's always went well, too.  I'm told IU is basically in the second tier right now. Something is going to have to change to get him to Bloomington.

Thanks Pap!  Is it safe to assume Tier One is some combination of 'Nova, Michigan St. and Duke?

Hanner 2.0?

I don't think so because he gets glowing reports from the scouts, but that highlight package points to hands being a potential weakness.  He's much more physical than Hanner and understands basketball.  Something i'll keep my eyes on.

Things are becoming clearer with some of these players(Stewart, Watford). I sure would love to see TDJ or Brooks commit to us soon, but we will probably have to play these out much like Romeo. Maybe a commit from Franklin or Newman can get us started? Recruiting these top players requires a lot of patience and faith. But we need them to play for championships. So for us hurry up and wait will be Indiana recruiting moving forward most likely.

thanks Pap. I know patience is the key, but it isn't easy.

SANTE FE, Rosario -- USA Basketball’s u16 team won a Gold Medal at the FIBA Americas last summer. This year they are on the hunt for the u17 World Cup crown, but they have a big addition to their roster.

Enter 6-foot-9, 245-pound Isaiah Stewart.

“It’s been great,” Stewart said about the USA Basketball experience. “I’m getting to know these guys a little bit more every day. Before I came to camp I definitely knew them and talked to them before but being with these guys for two weeks, staying and living with these guys we definitely start to become a family.”

A bruising, physical and athletic post player, Stewart brings something different to the team. He’s known for his motor and rim running, but he’s also a terrific area rebounder and plays the role of enforcer in the paint. In the opening round demolishing of China, Stewart finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Although a highly touted prospect last year, Stewart has ramped things up and he thinks his growth as a player has been significant in that time frame.

“I’m evolving more,” Stewart said. “I’m getting quicker, more light on my feet and improving my jumpshot. Getting confidence and getting comfortable with that and also on defense. I especially feel like I got really better here.”

“There’s still some things that I have to work on but they really taught me how to stay on my feet and not to jump at everything,” he added. “I feel like I’m starting to really cement that into my game.”

While Stewart is focused on helping USA try to win a Gold Medal, he’s also in the midst of his recruiting process. At this stage, Stewart has 10 schools on his list – Duke, Georgetown, Indiana, Louisville, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Syracuse, Texas, Villanova and Washington.

“It’s definitely great,” he said. “Still at ten schools. Looking forward to cutting it down to five, taking my visits. It might be interesting. I spoke to my coach of course and he said that Kentucky might jump in the mix so it’ll be interesting to see what they do. Until then, I’m just focusing on learning more about schools, getting more deep into rosters and stuff like that.”

Would Kentucky jumping in the mix change anything?

“Of course it will because I definitely feel like cutting it down to five and they’re a school that’d be jumping in late,” he said. “I know about Kentucky and their program. I know it’s a great look but you never know who is the right fit.”

Of the schools involved with Stewart, Georgetown, Notre Dame and Villanova had assistant coaches watching him on Saturday in Argentina. Others are expected during the event.

Stewart recently took unofficial visits to Michigan State, Notre Dame and Indiana. Stewart, who currently ranks as the No. 7 overall prospect in the 247Sports Composite, said the next step in his process is securing official visit dates, which he said he plans to do soon.
