Welp.  Maybe it's just recency bias, but I'm really excited about Jake coming in.  It's weird to have this many guys ready to be Hoosiers that we've never seen play for us.  Eight so far.  An entire team.  It's so many that I'm ready to focus my fandom on the development of what we have, rather than who we'll get.  I really wish that there was more information coming in about how the team is doing.

Which guards are emerging?

Is RoJo playing any point?

Are the guys buying in to the defense?

Is Clifton going to be Crean's last gem for the program?

How's Hartman's mobility after the surgery?  Can he contribute?

How many monstrous jams has Justin Smith had?  Is his game rounding out to make him more than a "spark off the bench"?

How's Juwan right now?  The guy lost his entire class to the draft, he's dealt with injuries, he's our most proven big, and darn it if he doesn't come off as the most affable, tough, capable player/leader on the team.  Is all this hardship going to be rewarded with an excellent junior season?

This team, even though built with many of the old pieces, seems entirely new.  All these interviews with recruits are fun, but we've got a lot more going on than that.

An excellent sign gotta say. Granted I never thought Cujos issues had to do with a lack of work ethic.

Yeah his problems seemed more confidence-related to me. If this has been common for him throughout the offseason though I think it gives a lot of support to the rumors going around about him looking like one of our best players.

Nice player with a great swagger to his game, but not exceptionally talented.

You don't think? I think he demonstrated more upside than any guard on our team last year. But if he isn't buying in that's another story altogether.

It'll be a darn shame if we lose Devonte. Really talented kid. I'm waiting, watching, and expecting big things.

We'll see.

I hope it's just twitter talk and nothing more than that.  But when we learned he went home for the summer and Davis and Jones stayed in B'town, the thought crossed my mind that he was not planning on returning this season.   Truly hope we see him as an integral part of our team this year.

I really don't think he has much upside! I'm kinda a 180 from you; I really enjoyed watching him play last year, but I don't see him getting much run as Archie upgrades the talent level.

I see Green as a very undersized two guard with a mediocre handle but a killer competitive attitude, and no potential to be a starting point guard.

Fair.

I saw it like this:

Shooting: JBJ, Rojo, Devonte, Newkirk, CuJo
Handle: all our guards struggle, but. Devonte, Rojo, Newkirk, JBJ, CuJo
Vision: Devonte, Rojo, JBJ, Newkirk, CuJo
Defense: Rojo, Devonte, Newkirk, JBJ, CuJo
Create own Shot: JBJ but he struggled at times too, Devonte, Rojo, CuJo, Newkirk

Based on my ratings it would seem Im down on CuJo. I'm not and I think he can be really good and has phenomenal speed but last year he looked lost most of the time.

I watched numerous high school games and he was much better looking. More comfortable. Brought ball up floor with pace and usually fed Miles Bridges or took 3 pointers. Occasionally would fly to the hoop. I am fascinated to see his improvement.

Okay; maybe that was last year.

Do you really think that DeVonte has more upside than CuJo as a shooter, shot creator, and defender in the future?

I don't. There's no upside to a 6'1" shooting guard.

Can't say for sure, but Devonte was better last year. That, I'm sure about.

I like CuJos speed and agility. His shot looks good when he's not fading or stepping back. He's frail and gets pushed around by other guards. Honest answer is I don't know.
