Yogi's Picnic Basket Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 So does Wright get a call from Glass now?Just said the same thing in the NCAA thread lol. Seriously though why not? Our list of home run potential is growing. Bennett, Wright and Billy D all seem possible. Wright would be the hardest to poach though. Popular Post Old Friend Posted March 18, 2017 Popular Post Posted March 18, 2017 My personal tune isn't changing, but if I were betting, Billy Donovan will be the next coach. I'm not sure I'm ready to bet yet; and he wouldn't be my first choice (but he is a great option), but he's far better than what we've had for the last 17+ seasons Stevens isn't coming. He's just not. That ship sailed and timing never worked. Sometimes it doesn't. There's not a college coach who'd be anything close to a home run hire; Indiana needs a home run hire, and Donovan checks the boxes for Fred Glass. I'm not sure I know what Donovan is known for (and I get "winning." I just don't believe it's that easy in the Big Ten or at Indiana. Maybe it is) If I have to make a futures bet, Donovan's the guy. I've talked to too many people....and heard too many things this afternoon. If he's the guy, welcome, kick a$$, get to know AAU and HS coaches within 200 miles of Bloomington, and have at it. Oh, and Bob Kravitz is still an idiot. BTOWN, CR3AMnCR1MS0N, hsrtxp and 13 others 16 Quote
hoosierbannerd Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 (edited) to the mods, I appreciate being moved from Purdue jockstrap status kinda like being a Kentucky trailer bed mattress... just wrong on so many levels... with that being said, if anyone wants SA as coach, go **** yourself... The Badgers have an impressive program, They haven't finished lower than 4th in the Big Ten in at least 16 seasons, they don't ever beat themselves, they're sound, smart, tough, and they execute. This is their 11th sweet 16 since 2002. Indiana will ALWAYS be able to get better talent than Wisconsin. I said above Kravitz is an idiot, because he said in some dumba$$ article earlier than Glass' expectations are unrealistic. Here's the deal....Indiana is in position where in never finishes lower than 4th in the Big Ten over a 16 year period; the national results will be there. Talent alone will ensure that. Why can Wisconsin do it with the rosters they put together; but somehow that type of expectation is unrealistic at Indiana?? He's a clown. I want no part of a coach who thinks high expectations are unreaslistic at Indiana. Class of '66 Old Fart, ElectricBoogaloo, Tom White and 4 others 7 Quote

Brass Cannon Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 I wonder if Tom Allens high school connections will help the new coach at all. Different sport and all but can help in some way I imagine. Quote

That made me laugh. I don't know that my "intel" is any better than anyone else's, nor am I claiming it is. But.... The people who have been right many times over the course of time, beginning with Mike Davis' "resignation," have poked me today; so I have to give it some credence. The one guy I KNOW would know if something were "done" has been silent. So what I have is akin to everyone else. Nothing in stone...just....casual intel from a couple of people who have been right before. hoosierbannerd 1 Quote
Hoosier Guy Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 Yeah there's absolutely no reason that Wisconsin can do what they do and IU can't. It's not unrealistic expectations AT ALL. IT SHOULD BE THE NORM! ALASKA HOOSIER, Class of '66 Old Fart and Cheaney40 3 Quote

Indy Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 I had to get up and walk for a bit after reading that drivel from Kravitz yesterday. Really, unrealistic expectations? At INDIANA? My first thought was, well how in the hell has Wiscy seemingly done it year-after-year with no top 5 classes....and I was too lazy to actually look up the stats to see just how many straight years they've been in the top 3 or 4. But to say it's unrealistic for IU basketball to get to that point, that was just too much for me. As I tell my own 7th grade students, NEVER accept mediocrity. hoosierbannerd Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 I liked the Allen hire- he was getting the D to play better; something IU has lacked for years. Like basketball, in football; champions start by having a good D. Have a strong O line, decent D- you're gonna win a lot of games IMO. CR3AMnCR1MS0N, Hoosier Guy and bnkepner 3 Quote
