Welcome Coach Miller

Anyone feel bad for Archie's kid in the picture?

I think she's about 12-13 (just a guess based on the photograph) and to have to transfer schools mid-year with your dad being the most famous person in town cannot be easy especially at that age when life is already complicated. Hopefully she's a strong girl who is comfortable with who she is. As Crean's kids learned, the way they are treated in school by some people is directly affected by how much their dad wins.

Ironically I have not been married or had kids yet and that thought still crossed my mind.

imagine Brad Stevens showing up in a red sweater and that same picture pose as above..

Okay I'll stop :) lol

Welcome Miller

Brad Stevens wasnt coming here. It didnt matter how much we offered. Maybe 12-15 million a year gets it done lol but still. The Boston Celtics are now tied for 1st in the East. Have young talent and a star in Isiah. A borderline star in Horford. Money to go get another one. A top 5 pick coming. Ainge is already talking about a raise/extension. The Celtics and the Lakers are the Dukes and Kentuckys of the NBA. Once Popovich retires him and Erik Spoelstra will be far and away the top 2 coaches as well as Steve Kerr but at this point he don't really have to coach. He is in a big sports market that will lead to endorsement deals in the future. Yes he could get some here but not the ones that he can there. Him and Spoelstea will be the top 2 choices to coach Team USA once Coach K is done. The ship sailed.

Honestly I am thinking about moving out of town but my son is happy here so it makes ot hard. If it was definitely better of a situation I wouldn't hesitate. Not saying it would not be hard. One thing I will say though is if you go to Archies twitter he is VERY involved in her life. Being at a school like IU I feel like it will take time away from her with him but she is getting to the age where she just wants to hang out with her friends lol. Good timing IMO, but I did think about that after seeing his twitter page. Pretty much 1 of 4 post are about her or of her. He seems like a really great dad so I think he will make it work with little bumps in the road at first.

That's good to hear that he's a good father and that involved and also tells us what a good guy he is so that's positive!

I had not looked at his twitter page that closely to know that. Still nothing he or his family have experienced to this point will prepare him for the pressure cooker that is IU basketball. I am very hopeful he and his family can handle it and think they will but things just got real for him in terms of expectations. He is about to be either the most loved or hated man in Bloomington and that will definitely effect his family at least to some extent.

Your right about the pressure. I just hope his daughter gets to enjoy the next 5 years of school with no nasty comments made to her. Home school would be an option but they shouldnt have to do that just because. None of us will truly know how easy of a transition and how the move and living in the area will be. I am pretty sure in Dayton every fan loved him so it is gonna be a whole different level. Big bro and Cal will hopefully have him somewhat prepared for it.

From that/Archie's Twitter, she looks younger than that.

Personally I was 10 the last time my family moved (we also moved when I was 6) and i quickly got over any sadness. I could see it being a problem if she was in late middle school or early high school school, but at this point she's probably fine. If anything the timing of the Millers coming here now means Archie won't want to leave in 5 years because his daughter will be in high school.

As I said if he wins his daughter will have no problem in school but if he doesn't things can get rough as happened to Crean's kids. Its totally unfair to coaches kids to face that and it should not be that way but it is the reality of the world we live in sadly.

I just looked it up and internet said she was born in 04 and name is Leah so I made a pretty good guess on her age based on the photo.

Also I assume your dad was not famous when you moved so that's an apples and oranges comparison. Kids have to move and change schools all the time but few face the pressure of famous parents and no one on this board knows what that is like or has experienced that.

Yup. That is why I am taking things slow with my son and the Hoosiers lol. The only two things I loved at first sight. I want him to pick his own team bur give him nudges for IU. If he becomes a UK fan it is gonna be very hard tho.

I appreciate hearing your thoughts as a parent! As I said I have not been married or had kids yet so I don't have the incite you do from that perspective.
