Well, there was a Barry from a previous generation who was pretty darn good at doing it that way. Remains his claim to fame, even in commercials.

That's his dad.

Florida just has a good program. Haven't fallen off at all since Donovan left. I know it's been just two years but Mike White is doing a pretty good job. Yogi has been all over him and I can see why with clear vision. Virginia and Wisconsin play the same style of basketball. Gators handled Cavaliers last night so they can handle Badgers as well

I posted this last night about 2 or 3 pages back there sport, however; it's fun to read again and hope it's true :)

Yes you did. I'm sure we both stumbled onto it on the 247 board. However, when posted last night, the thread of comments weren't there.

Just thought I'd share again this morning to get conversation going since the guy is claiming to have sources that are boosters.

No need to pat yourself on he back like you're breaking news and I don't appreciate the pejorative comment.

Yeah, we don't want to be mediocre. A lot of our fans are perfectly fine with it

Yeah I don't understand it. Anyone and their mother knows that IU can be elite once again. The only thing that has been missing for 17 years now is a coach. That's why some of our fans are fine with being good enough because they don't think IU will get a coach of significance ever again. Those fans couldn't be more wrong. IU can get any coach they want. This is still a top 5 job in all of college basketball and top coaches view it that way as well

The 247 board still has Donovan being the guy. "Search firm" being a bit of a smokescreen for negotiations with Billy. I guess we'll know it is or isn't Billy within a couple weeks, given that our other likely candidates will be done in the tournament- if it's crickets then one could surmise we are waiting for the NBA playoffs to wrap up.

Can someone point me to the talk of using a search firm? I must have missed it.

Do you have a particular preference amongst Donovan, Bennett and Alford? I think I remember seeing u were somewhat high on Alford due to the fit in Indiana.

I was pondering this scenario yesterday and came up with a bit of an off the wall idea: If it's a case where a deal with an NBA coach can't be negotiated or finalized until after their season (and that would be the tip off because of the long delay), could he have an agreement with a former IU guy like Wittman or Woodson to be named the new coach but really as just a seat warmer until later?  It would throw off the press, particularly because it'd hit those "double checks".  Of course, I suppose there'd have to be some contractual craftsmanship and I believe that could be detected by the public/press since it'd be available for inspection.

Hopefully, Fred will do whatever it takes to land the right guy.

Multiple people in on saying we are now hiring a search firm.

I've seen that it's primarily for the clandestine negotiation function, allowing parties to truthfully claim they haven't talked to or negotiated with another team/individual.

Guys think about it.  No way Fred was gonna fire Tom (whom most say he was super close to) without KNOWING who is guy was already.  And he dang sure wasn't gonna fire his buddy to make some janky a$$ lateral move.  It's done.  Whoever it is.  It's done.
