TOM CREAN FIRED

Recommended Posts

I can't stand the "Fire Tom Crean" stuff I see everywhere now. D1 players should know how to inbound the ball, call a time out, and get the ball down the court in 10 seconds. He has the most information about this team and has been making the best in-game decisions he can. Why wouldn't he? He wants to win twice as much as we all do.

People just want to blame TC as an easy excuse to justify our losses.

You just bolstered the argument you were trying to detract from, do you see how you did that?

We know you do but that doesn't mean that plenty of people do.

Actually, they do. I'm not saying they are right, but Crean's rep amongst other fanbases is akin to a creepy uncle.

On internet forums sure. I have plenty of friends who are fans of Ohio State, Purdue, ND, Michigan, MSU, Ball State and a few other schools and I've yet to hear any of them say any such thing. Being on quite a few forums for different teams and different sports for many many years I've seen that the stuff you read online doesn't always translate well to what the general fan base thinks. We tend to be a more passionate and often more extreme in views than the average fan. For example, I don't know anyone in real life, IU or other fanbase who thinks Crean should be fired or is on the hot seat... it's all over the internet though.

Internet isn't the only place I'm hearing it. Not hearing a lot that think he should be fired at this point, but I would say plenty of fans I talk to are seeing him on the hot seat.

Anonymity of social media, forums, and what not also fuel extreme views and talks. People have a harder time calling for someone's head or calling them a creepy uncle in person rather than simply typing it.

Believe me, if my friends felt that way they'd be sure to tell me face to face.

I'm probably in a very small minority, but I would trade Crean for Calipari.

Calipari as a "coach", sure.  I don't want all the other crap that follows him, WWW and all the controversy.  Unfortunately, the "coach" is a package deal with the slime.

Yeah, I'm not saying he's the guy I'd want most for IU. I would just personally be fine with trading him for Crean if that was a thing. I'd take many other coaches ahead of Cal.

Yeah, if there was a way to separate the coach from the slime I'd trade Crean for Cal.  I'd sign up for that trade yesterday if it were possible, but the slime is part of the package with Cal and I'd steer clear because of it.

Yes we are young but damnit there should have been improvement over the course of the year and I'm seeing the same team that took the floor against Chicago state on opening night. Crean has to take some blame and he takes none and throws everyone under the bus. How many times have we seen him get outcoached in the second half of games? That's on HIM. This team is only going to get better once he looks in the mirror and he gets better. Until then we wil see 20 turnovers a game, no movement on offense, and a guy running like a chicken with it's head cut off on the sidelines.[/quote]

Here's the thing... Most of you are older or haven't played the game. I'm fresh out of high school basketball in Indiana. I remember playing and our fans having the same attitudes towards my coach and the team. Why would they disagree with what is going on? Because they have no clue about game scheme or strategies. They're just fans that think they know the game. IF CREAN OR THE IU MENS BASKETBALL TEAM WAS TO LISTEN TO EVERYONES BS THEN THEY WOULD BE WORTHLESS. For once in your life, trust the game plan and support the damn team!! It's not like your negative opinions make a difference anyway.
You're all just typical fans that act like they know the game. When things are going good, you all promise Crean, when things are going bad, this thread gets started.
It's absolutely absurd. I'm not one to publicly show my emotion. But I love my damn Hoosiers and this thread pisses me off. Stick to your career and stop creating negative vibes for fellow Hoosiers.
There's NOTHING better than INDIANA BASKETBALL. It's time that you all support this team.

How is anyone not supporting the team? I keep seeing that crap getting thrown out but haven't seen anyone add anything valid to back it up. Does wanting the coach fired mean you aren't supporting the team? Heck no. The point of wanting him gone is to make the team better. Don't tell me because I want Crean gone that I support the hoosiers any less than anyone else. That's a load of crap. I want this team to win just as much as anyone and I'd be willing to bet everyone else wanting Crean gone probably feels the same. I don't see anyone rooting for us to lose just to get Crean out of here. Disagree with me all you want I'm fine with it, that's part of posting on a forum not everyone will agree or that'd defeat the purpose. But under no circumstances tell me I don't support the Hoosiers. I will root for IU until the day they toss me in the ground. This crap where people are complaining about others being negative is just as bad as they're accusing the negative people of being. GO IU!!! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Listen Betty,

Just because you played ball doesn't make your opinion any more accurate than anyone elses, be it another fan's, player's, or coach's. So you played ball?! Big sh_ttin' deal.

That doesn't mean your High School coach was worth a damn, or that your own play qualifies you as an expert of college ball, game plans, strategies, or team mascots. It may however give me cause to consider your opinion on the distribution of pop corn at half time.

This team stinks because they've not been properly coached; not because they're too young. This team stinks because they've got more athletes than players. This team stinks because they have no shooters, are slow of foot on defense, and have no mental strength. Consequently, this team is outstanding at making passes to other players who're in no position to do anything with it, excellent at blowing leads, and we could win another banner, this very year, if the NCAA awarded the championship to the team best suited to turning the ball over on inbounds plays.

We're going to lose Vonleh after this year, and quite possibly Yogi, -"give me the damned ball"- Ferrel. I don't care who comes in next year, the team will likely play the same way, and you, (and others like you), will still defend them for being "too young", and you, (and others like you), will be just as wrong next year.

Stevens' Butler teams made it to the finals and consistently made it to the NCAA with a fraction of the talent, which shows you just how lacking Crean is in the coaching department. Oh yeah, they also played a style of game that resembled, you know, Indiana basketball. You can blindly stand by and support the team while Rome burns, but don't belittle the rest of us for pointing out that the Emperor has no clothes, or in this case, "The Coach has no Clue".

If no one leaves, except for Will then we will be title contenders. Noah and co, will all improve and it will be unbelievable how much better they get, look at Yogi, I know that he didn't shoot much last year but he's now scoring 17 some points per game. Our biggest problem is 3pt Shooting and Turnovers, the turnovers will get better in the offseason and 3 pointers will get better when JBJ and RoJo and Hoetzel arrive. Tom is a great recruiter which makes it easier to coach whn you have great players on your team. Look at Cody, at Yogi, and at Noah, all players he recruited and had great seasons with(maybe not this year). Crean has brought us back from the dead, imagine us being where Purdue is now and Purdue being where we were last year. I don't like Crean when he's on the floor. I don't like his walking around or yelling his head off or even the Michigan Stunt. I wouldn't like him If I were a coach but I think, he's a good coach Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Guys, get it back on track instead of a B-word conversation. I will say this, don't attack people's opinions because they differ. They are not stupid or absurd because YOU think so. Detty, I agree people need to relax more, but your post is way off base. Yeah, you played High School ball. I used to play and coach, so by your post, I am a lot smarter than you. I understand you're frustrated, but you can't be blasting people's post because. Not cool, and take a chill pill. - Mod Squad Sent from my DROID4 using BtownBanners mobile app
