IUfan_Charlie Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Ya but if Vonleh leaves next year might not be a lot better it might be worse tbh Quote
jrbchi Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Crean was great for rebuilding but now we need someone who can take us to the next level. That level that IU basketball should expect. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Quote

IU Hoosier41 Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014
I said at the same point in the careers. Davis has been a head coach for 13, this is Crean's 15th. At 13 years that number is accurate. The 3rd Sweet 16 came in year 14 of Crean's career, the direct comparison was just 13 years to be an equal measure.I did write that Crean has been coaching two more years, which adds a conference title and Sweet 16. Add those and it takes it to 2 conference titles (same as Davis) and 3 Sweet 16s.Now that I look, his winning percentage isn't accurate at the 13 year mark. That's his career winning %
Leaving out Crean's 14th and 15th seasons blows your whole analysis and the point you are trying to prove in my opinion. It's convenient to leave those out to help your argument. Gotta love how stats can be manipulated :)Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Quote

It's convenient to leave those out to help your argument. Gotta love how stats can be manipulated :) Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners This is Crean's 15th season, you probably shouldn't want that included. As I explained, Mike Davis has been a head coach for 13 years so I used that just for an equal measure to compare the two in an equal time frame. That's it, nothing about convenience just an equal time frame. Even if you include Crean's 14th and 15th years, he is tied with Davis for conference titles so the Sweet 16s, which aren't too impressive to me, are the only difference. Should I compare Crean's 15 years to the first 15 years of other coaches that are unarguably good? I've done it before for another board, and his fall short. Quote
IU Hoosier41 Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Not doubting they fall short. Just saying g the data was a bit manipulated to serve your point better. I realize your logic and why you said 13 years for mike Davis, but you did that also knowing it excluded Crean's best season at IUSent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Quote

Hwy 1 Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 I heard that Dick Vitale is getting tired of his espn gig and wants to get back in coaching. He'd make sure we got the puke series back even if he had to promise Cal we would lose. He'd even make sure that they rename Assembly Hall to RMK Memorial Palace, it's rightful name! Quote

In fairness, I'd rate an outright Big Ten title with a 14-4 record a lot higher than sharing the Big Ten title with 3 other teams at 11-5. Quote
jbhoosier_3 Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Definitely not this year. Consider the implications from the standpoint of player transfers. Nowadays, guys leave if they perceive they're not getting the playing time they think they're entitled to, let alone if there's a coaching change. If they fired him this year, we'd essentially be right back to where we were when he took over the team. I'm greatly appreciative of the hard work he did in repairing this program after what Kelvin Sampson had done to it. However, given the trajectory that this season seems to be taking, he has to be on some sort of hot seat going into next year. Quote
