Damn some of you guys have let one person repeating over and over that "Fred Glass loves Crean and needs any excuse to extend him" blind you from logic.

Also, if Crean won a National Championship, I'm sorry, but I'm back on board. I don't like his style, I don't like the turnovers, and his demeanor is annoying. But damn I'd be in full support of the coach who brought home Banner #6.

History says that isn't gonna happen, so don't worry folks. We are not a sound enough team defensively to make any kind of tournament run. Unfortunately, that is most likely also true of the BTT, and our season ends today. Then we all have to go back to our regularly scheduled lives till November.

Mike Davis was 5 minutes from winning a natty. He's now coaching at Texas Southern. Kevin Ollie won a natty and is now struggling mightily. If Crean won a natty this season (not going to happen) water would find its level and we would finish begging Rutgers next season.

Exactly. Last time I was in Fort Wayne i ran into a couple of my non IU fan friends and that was their thought as well. "No Tom Crean is great. Keep him forever. (Giggle giggle giggle)"

I was talking to my neighbor who is a Michigan State guy. He was trying to tell me that Crean was a great coach and that we've won more B1G titles recently than MSU. I showed him our wins and losses this year and he still wouldn't give up his argument. I asked him if he'd be willing to trade coaches if Crean was so great, then he balked. Weird, eh?

Tom Crean and IU fans is like a Facebook page. Everyone removed from the situation (national media, drive-by fans, and people who get their sports news from the talking heads) sees the highlights and all the good things he's done for us, while the fans see how he forgets Valentine's Day and our birthday and never and never listens etc.
When we break up, everyone will feel bad for him because they will think we are spoiled brats.
Then when he finds a new relationship, they will all start to see the real Crean and all of his shortcomings.

The janitor doesn't regularly tweet. He went days, even weeks without tweeting during the season. If you're expecting daily/hourly updates, look elsewhere.

I feel for Tom Crean. I really do. When i was playing in high school i can remember a petition going around that basically was asking the school to let go of our coach even though he'd been the coach for 20+ years and had multiple conference championships and even coached an IU target and future US Olympian Lloy Ball. My parents thankfully refused to sign any of that BS. We were a small school with very very very low expectations. In 1997 when my future school played Luke Recker in the Northeast Regional at the Fort Wayne Coliseum that was the pinnacle of our schools history. In Tom Crean's case, more is expected at Indiana University. I dont hate the guy. I've had multiple friends that were or are students there that have had very positive run in's with him. I appreciate his contribution to the program. I wish him well. He's done.

I've had a couple of run ins with him here in Bloomington ... he's a GREAT guy.  Took the time to talk to my kids, took pictures with them....he was very engaging to us as fans.

That being said, I agree ... it's not about him as a person ... it's about the fact that more is expected at IU.  If we continue down this road, in 10 years, IU will be another program that has low expectations, who has a "history" but is irrelevant.  I don't want that.  

We're nearly there already ..... I mean, we haven't won a title in 30 years!!!  I was 6 ... and have no memory of it.  Our last Final 4 was 15 years ago.....Duke, UNC, Kansas, pUKe have all passed us by ....

I'll argue Mike Davis is not an relevant comparison. He never finished better than 4th in the B1G besides 2002, never won 20 games in his final three seasons, missed the tournament twice, and didn't make it past the second round besides 2002. Same situation really with Ollie.

 

Crean has had a much better 6 years, and did it with his own players. He's proven he can win and is a much much better coach than Davis. Once again, 3 S16s and 2 B1G Titles in 6 years is nothing to brush off. It's just not good enough for us anymore.

Exactly. When he first came aboard my best friend was a Senior there and he and his buddies were at Mother Bear's and Tom Crean showed up and without warning came right up to my friends table and introduced himself and talked to them for around 5-10 minutes. Great guy. Great ambassador. Mediocre coach.

Yup. There's nothing in the world that could change my mind on Crean. He's not the guy for the job and never will be. 

Also I'm not sold on him being this "great guy". I'm sure he's nice when he's interacting with fans around town, but there are too many stories about him being a real jerk for me to come to a conclusion.
