He had made a post 5 minutes earlier about how the job is much more attractive this time around. A poster then asked him if he still felt we would be excited and he immediately responded with that. 

 

Personally, if I had everybody hanging onto my every last word like he does now, I'd probably try and have some fun with it too.

According to New Albany's AD Crean really hasn't shown much interest in Romeo and he described his recruitment as being wide open. He said that IU would have had a good shot but I think Crean has screwed this one up.

Maybe our reaching out isn't yielding the type of results they were hoping. Now considering playing it safe but still evaluating. Would make some sense.

My issue is I'd try about anyone else versus another crack with Crean. Zero confidence in him.

The thing with the Danny Bridges stuff which Hutch said was a credible source on twitter today is he is older. He may knew some stuff back then but I dont think he knows before anyone that Crean is back. I wont act like I have the best sources or even good sources but my uncle runs a Spiece warehouse and is very close with Tom Spiece. I have met him a few times through him and if anyone knows Tom Spiece he is a hugggggge IU fan. Before our store closed down there was pieces of AH all over his store had all kinds of other stuff signed and is a huge Bob Knight fan, which is why he dont have the same respect around the program as he once did. I asked my uncle if he knew anything last night and he said that nothing has been said that makes sense. Said if you talk to 10 different boosters you get 10 different answers. He did say there is supposed to be a booster club gathering on March 8th. He only knows cause of Tom's schedule so unless he tells him I doubt I will know what happens there but it means a final decision hasnt been made yet. If he is gone or staying we will know a lot more around then is all I'm trying to say. Right now it seems like it is all just speculation.

Hutch has always seemed a status quo guy. Was that way back with Davis too. So if that is your bent then you might hear what you want to hear or interpret things that way and you may support others with similar thoughts.

Don't know if that is the case here. It does seem that Mile who has not generally been a anti Crean guy has been out front with information that is completely contrary to the idea of keeping Crean. Not sure if both can be true - why contact so many others if you are going to keep Crean.

Either you can do both (check with other coaches while thinking you might keep him) or one side is way less connected than they think.

This isn't gonna be a popular post but given the fact Fred seems to love Crean, if he can't get the hire he wants, I see him sticking with Crean before hiring an up and coming guy or just anyone.
