3 PT shooting isn't gonna be there every game though. Fundamentals can be and that's my biggest gripe. Crean's teams don't know simple basics. A team can win basketball games with basics. And yep there's no in between. It's either really good or really bad

Meh... we've had some of the country's top offenses under Crean, statistically. Also, we're usually a top 3PT team. The problem with Crean is that everything goes from fine to disaster, and the basics that are needed to maintain a solid floor aren't there. Soaring highs and crashing lows.

Statistically top offenses... usually aided in playing 8 noncon cupcakes and keeping your starters in until a minute left. It's not too difficult to manipulate stats. You also brought up a good point, the big wins usually coincide when the team shoots well from outside.

Our defense is a joke annually and that is with all those cupcakes. The dude is completely lost at a high major program. He just employed the "reminder cards" on the sideline. Did he not teach defensive communication over the summer or start of fall practices?! I'm sure he was too busy teaching that effective toss the ball out to a guard out of bounds play that we run EVERY.FLIPPING.TIME.

The flash card thing last night was so embarrassing. If a guy on the sideline has to hold up a card that says "Call out screens", your team isn't very good. But since the staff doesn't teach defense, I guess card communication is the next best thing. This crap needs to change

Every time he does something dumb I feel like it's a new low and we can't get any lower. He then tops himself by doing something even more embarrassing. Will we see the sign telling guys which direction to go?

Not at all but the way we defend we have to be thinking of offense because they sure aren't doing anything to stop the opponent from scoring.

The interactions I have had with him have been positive. Granted it's not like I know him or anything.

I just do not see a lot of other coaches on people's wishlist coming to IU. Alford seems like a viable option. Although Collins to me would be a quality hire too.

Can we please stop mentioning Steve Alford as an option. That would be an awful hire. Alford is terrible and has no business coaching a blueblood program.

Can this clown show just end soon? My 9 year old nephew playing his first year of school ball explained several ways to play a screen. In each scenario he started with "call out the screen." My nephew might have a higher bball IQ than this coach.
