Brass Cannon Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 That's a pretty astute observation. Never thought of it that way, but it makes some sense. Although I think Troy, in spurts, is very capable. He did well in stretches against Uthoff last night. I think both of them have the same main problem on defense. Desire. Stuhoo and GloryDays 2 Quote
Stuhoo Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 I think both of them have the same main problem on defense. Desire. While that is true, James is not nearly as physically gifted with ability to defend as Troy. That's why Troy can be quite good in spurts. On the other hand, James is surely as athletically talented as Verdell and Nick Z, both of whom became pretty reasonable defenders. Quote

HumphreyIN Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 This thread is such a joke. You think IU is going to attract a lot of of coaches who get fired after winning two B1G titles in four years? I have been one of Crean's biggest critics but he has evolved as a coach this year.. He still does some things that will make basketball purists want to pull out their hair, but he has done a great job at IU this year. Taking better timeouts, letting players play with two fouls, developing the bench. If somehow they play a bad game and get upset early in the tourney, that shouldn't always reflect on the coach. He is a good face for the program, does the things the right way, graduates players, does a great job recruiting, and wins B1G titles. I hope they win an NCAA title soon but success can't be purely defined by national titles. lakejameshoosier, Naturalhoosier, HoosierRob and 1 other 4 Quote

It's a place for people to vent and observe without derailing threads of other topics. I think it has been a great addition to the board. ALASKA HOOSIER, coonhounds and KingPG21 3 Quote

323SGrant Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 He didn't call the appropriate timeouts in the PU game and a 19 pt. lead dwindled to two as a result and his recruiting is good not great. Quote
coonhounds Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 Zero?if you consider a pair of sweet 16 rings success then I am wrong. Imo it is not. The big ten tourney has been disappointing and ncaa as well. It is time to change that if crean wants the majority of fans support TrueHoosier62 and Defenserocks28 2 Quote

That does not, however, mean they are lasting changes which it seems people are automatically assuming. Quote
cjvz20 Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 Yeah I was listening to Bomani jones yesterday and caught right when he was talking about Crean not being a good coach. Said if Wade wouldn't have went off that year no one would've ever heard of Crean. Said lots of coaches win titles but it doesn't make you a good coach. I'm just glad that Iu is being talked about on a national level more. Quote

Since then? It has been a whose who of college basketball. That is why we can look at adjusted offense and defense to gauge who should be there at the end. Quote
cjvz20 Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 Seems like sometimes Crean or the players have hard time understanding game situations at the end. Like against Iowa you are up 6 don't give up a three point shot like u did. If they guy goes around you and scores that's good cuz ur still up 4. But have to give us a heart attack with them missing two open threes. Why not use a timeout to set your defense up and tell your players no easy threes allowed. Idk maybe I'm wrong mdn82 1 Quote
