Popular Post Stuhoo Posted March 3, 2017 Popular Post Posted March 3, 2017 Allright guys. I am not an IUBB insider, but I have a fair bit of experience as an investigator. With that in mind, I have tried to parse out the "breadcrumbs" of posts that happened in and around February 26th, the morning after our last home game of this season. That is the morning that numerous 'insider' posters on this board and the 247 board targeted as the date that Crean and Glass would have their sitdown. The post-quote string below details the progression from that date: From BB4IU as the usual 'first in' on the 22nd, to mystery new posters 'BtownInsider' and 'crean my pants' (lol), to Dakich's trolling with "extend" tweet on the 26th, to long-time credible posters 0708, Hickory Hoosier, and Magnanimous, to the board's collective discovery that Donovan listed for sale his Florida house on the 26th. As Walking Boot of Doom correctly pointed out, this could be a case of 'confirmation bias', especially the Donovan house listing piece, but the post texts from that time period, with the opinion pieces removed, make for some pretty good reading! I havent ever even been on here till now just see the post topics on twitter. I come from our rivals message board. IU is not getting close with Donovan and probably doesn't....this year. Insider info he has no plans on jumping ship right now in the middle of a season let alone abandon a team before playoffs. He is talking about coming after next year after he knows the direction the Thunder plan on taking. The Dane Fife rumor is true for the Donovan reasons. They plan on offering him a one year deal to hold the spot for then Donovan to take over. That or keep Crean is being talked about. Crean leaving for another job talk has been because of this. He knows he is a stopgap if anything and is openly interacting with a few programs. Georgia is the school he is really interested in not Missouri or NC State. He hates our fans enough but at least we have a reason to believe we are good. NC State is the same thing just not the good part. Fife is questioning whether he would do it because he has no chance of staying but IU would make him the associate head coach and pay him handsomely once Donovan got here. Donovan is not a sure thing and if he decides to say no completely than IU will make Archie Miller and Tony Bennett offers. They are also considering Sean Miller and he is listening through back channels due to his midwest ties. He may have went to Pittsburgh, but he loves this area. It is said we actually want Archie more. Alford as much as know one wants to hear may be contacted and two names to keep an eye on are Mike White and Tim Jankovich. Glass loves both, but a firm is taking the search over. If the search's main guys don't come Glass goes after his guys. I know this is quite a bit and none will believe a word I say and I don't really care. I see the post on twitter and I feel bad that you guys are left not knowing a thing about our beloved program. I won't name my sources, but it might as well be Glass himself considering the closeness of the person. I will end it with this and it may not be good news obviously it isn't but Crean can save this job, but no extension is given regardless so breathe if he does come back, but I will also say Crean is most likely gone and it won't be by being fired unless Crean can find the job he wants. It would take a win in the tourney to even make the adminstration think about keeping him. Not happening. Have a good night Hoosier Nation and your welcome. The crowd made a bigger impact tonight as a negative than the win did for Crean as a positive. I see a few really good posters on here but a lot of horrible ones as well who just hate Crean and think that he is the only problem. Why do you think IU hasn't fired him sooner? The national perception of this job is going down without Crean being the whole reason. I do know some coaches do not want Fred Glass as their AD. You could say he has the Crean effect. Also some of them love him. Billy Donovan is one of them, but Brad Stevens is not. He will not ever be coming here. Brad takes it personal he never got an offer sooner and even when he got calls none were never serious. If he comes back to college Duke is the only school he picks up for. It has been talked about though, but only with assurances from Billy Donovan. I think they could gladly find a way to get those recruits back once Donovan walked in their living room. Like I also said they have other options not just that one. Personally I believe Archie Miller will be the Head Coach of Indiana University around Aprilish. Just to put it to rest my sources are still saying Crean is GONE. I was just having a little fun, calm down fellas and please stop sending me messages. When I find something out I'll share it. My sources have been very reliable in the past but it's not official until it happens. This one win will not make a difference I was told. The meeting with Crean happened earlier today. There won’t likely be an official announcement until after the BTT though. Obviously no word yet on a replacement, however it will definitively not be Alford or Stevens (he’s not interested at this point). More to come in the next week or so. Dream on for Donovan coming here. Go Hoosiers! Did you just hear that today? I ask because last I heard it wasn't so mutual but that's been a week ago or so. Brass Cannon Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 I didn't see it mentioned in the OP but the reason I was bringing up the 26th was because that was the day Donovan's house got listed. Quote
JSHoosier Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 I do think there is some confirmation bias involved, especially with Donovan's house being listed. There could be a thousand reasons he'd do that, only one of which is not having an offseason to live there. Quote

Does seem to be an odd time to list it If he was keeping it as an off-season home the offseason is right around the corner. If he was keeping it because his kids are/we're in school you think it would have happened in January or June. Quote
HoosierCoop Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 It isn't that odd. NBA coaches actually have an off-season. That was stated by Brad Stevens and the total reason why he still has a lake house in Northern Indiana. Quote

The timing is odd because of the rumors, and listing the day Crean was supposedly told that he won't be back. If he was going to live there in the offseason there would be no need to list it, unless he was planning on no longer having an offseason. I think there's some confirmation bias involved though. Nope...I get it JS. This is very odd timing. If he was still considering being the NBA for a couple of more seasons, he would still be able to enjoy that nice home in Florida during the off season. If moving to say, INDIANA, he would have a lot of building to do and not have any time in Florida. Quote

Wrong-o on that account. Gainesville, Florida, and for that matter, all of Central Florida, is a completely miserable place in the summer: "Unlike most of Florida, Gainesville has some fairly large seasonal fluctuations. Its inland location means that it is shielded from the temperature moderation that the bodies of water surrounding Florida provide. It is also too far inland to benefit from any 'ocean breezes'. The heat and humidity in July and August should not be underestimated. During the summer, Gainesville experiences typical Florida weather, with high humidity and frequent rainfall, with highs usually in the mid-90s (about 35°C) but rarely above 100°F (38°C) and 6in (15cm) of precipitation per month."
