IU vs. Rutgers official game thread

I don't think it was mentioned but there were a ton of empty student seats today. My ticket group had our row and the rows behind us and in front of us to ourselves, and that seemed pretty common in our area. The 12:00 start didn't help but kids just don't show up anymore unless we're playing a highly ranked team.

They need to put those tix out to the general public.

I'm a senior this year so I'm all for that now lol. In all seriousness though I remember seeing someone on here talking about the games over break and wondering if the students being gone hurts our home court advantage, but I think it's the opposite. Students are louder and more obnoxious of course but that doesn't help when half of them don't show up. Make more tickets available to the general public and I think we'd start seeing more games played in a packed Assembly Hall.

Yeah sell more tix! Gives Glass another reason to keep CTC.

The number of tickets sold wouldn't change much, if at all. IU games are going to sellout most of the time regardless. What would change would be the number of people who actually show up after buying tickets.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist. What you do is the definition of trolling and annoying as hell. Well it's either that or you are bi-polar on another level. Guessing that won't last long.

I'm having a really difficult time understanding the euphoria after today's game.  We did take better care of the ball, and we saw a team that didn't come in, out hustle us, out-rebound us by 9, and show us exactly what it looks like when you "play hard," but you're careless with the ball.  They had 5 assists and 21 turnovers.  The level to which that's awful is laughable.    We - finally - had more assists than turnovers, and we won comfortably.  We were able to run, created turnovers for touchdowns, and I just don't understand why this formula is so difficult.

That said, we did not play well, and didn't exactly impress against the last place (0-6) team in our league.   Why are so many looking at this and seeing signs of a turnaround?   Only the lack of turnovers for....35 minutes or so (last couple of minutes of each half were bad) were much better than we've seen, and 4-22 from deep will get us beat 90% of the time.

I wouldn't say I see it as a turning point but, I'd say it's encouraging and something to build off of. We played well defensively, holding Rutgers to .77 ppp which is slightly below average for them in conference games. We won comfortably without the 3 falling, proving we have other options. We forced turnovers, another thing we had not been doing. Took care of the ball offensively. Simply, we won a game we were supposed to win...comfortably. That's the same thing we did last year. We won the games we were supposed to while the other contenders did not. It's a comfortable win in the B1G. I guess I'm not going to get caught up wondering if we should have won by 25 instead of 20.

That kind of outburst makes me wonder if the "buzz" has been getting to Crean lately.

Could be getting to CTC. Green should have held the ball and CTC shouldn't have embarrassed Green like that in public. CTC does the blow by handshake when he loses and that's poor sportsmanship.

My thing on the Green situation is if he is that hot he probably told him to hold it as he is bringing it up the floor and Green didn't listen. Who is really at fault when you have lost a team?

I think something may have happened that we didn't see. Green made a play that was borderline unsportsmanlike at best and TC's reaction was shockingly unexpected. I'd say down right, slack-jawed, surprise is what I was feeling....tell me that's not true for most of you. I think something happened with Green at the half and that play was the kicker. Could explain his minutes.
As far as losing the team, I'd say no. I see them steadily improving in nearly all of the problem areas. I know many are calling for Bryant to sit but tonight I think you saw a coach trying to get his big gun to start firing right again. I know I'll take some heat and I'm sorry but this team is getting better and is a step away from being very good again.

I know people don't want to sit high but there were roughly 20 people in the whole upper deck opposite bench side.

student section was definitely light as well.

Lower sections seemed full for the most part but still plenty of open seats

As long as the seats are sold is all that matters.

I was stuck in row 45 so the ceiling blocked me from seeing either balcony, but there were a lot of empty seats around where I was. The upper deck gets a bad rap but with the renovations it's really not a bad place to watch a game.

Wasn't impressed with the in TBH. If Rutgers hit they're free throws it would have been a game

One too many "if" in that sentence. Could also say if we hit our threes we would've won by 30. I liked that we won easily while not turning it over and being active on defense ALL while shooting like garbage from distance.
