IUsince1980 Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 He's just too raw right now. He absolutely can rebound and play the passing lanes, but everything else needs A LOT of work. He can be serviceable next year, but doesn't look to add much to this years squad.Thats just it. If he can continue to rebuild and play some interior D then maybe thats all we need him to be. Hope he does progress some with his shot. Doesn't look awful but definitely not fluid.Sent from my SPH-L720T using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

It would be 1 thing if were this raw as a Frosh, but he is a junior. He is athletic and can rebound but that is it, he looked worse than Blackmon defensively. Maybe Morgan and Jones should be getting more of his minutes. Quote

drewheck Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 Not a great showing, but a win. McSwain has been really disappointing. Thoughts? Mcwains too early to tell hes just getting his sea legs back defense has to play better or were in for trouble against better teamsSent from my SM-G900R6 using BtownBanners mobile app Quote
drewheck Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 Why do so many of our players shoot left side layups with their right hands? ComfortSent from my SM-G900R6 using BtownBanners mobile app Quote
Scooter D Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 The D needs some...a lot...of work. Giving up 78 points and 44% FG% to a Big 10 team will get you beat more often then not. Napleshoosier 1 Quote
WayneFleekHoosier Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 Those refs stunk. Lowell shot more FTS than us in Assembly Hall. More time for Morgan and Davis please. Morgan did seem a bit off tonight though. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners BGleas and HooHooHoo22 2 Quote
Miller'sTheMan Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 Communication on D needs some work, miscommunication is giving some guys wide open lay-ups. Blackmon is looking great too. Quote
Alford Bailey Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 Coming off the big win over KU, travel, UMass Lowell isnt terrible Im not concerned. 22 point win and scored 100. I think we are hitting on all cylinders by UNC game. HoosierAloha, ThompsonHoosier and Crimson and Cream 3 Quote
BrettThrows Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 Agree that Bryant needs more shots. But not at all worried that he didn't get them in this game. It was nice to see Davis get in some meaningful minutes. He has a really nice touch, great hands and good footwork. He'll be a much bigger asset once he's in fighting shape. Love greens defense, he plays hard and doesn't take plays off. As for McSwain, dudes an athlete. Big and strong. I'm not surprised he's off to a slow start, honestly. Hell come around. Don't expect him to score 20points a game, but I can see him coming in and being a good rebounder and defender, every once in a while having a big dunk. He's skated by on his athleticism thus far. Now that he has some coaching I think he'll be decent. Let's not give up on him just yet. ALASKA HOOSIER, thebigweave, CR3AMnCR1MS0N and 2 others 5 Quote

HOOSIERCHADDY Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 Good win, wish Bryant would extend his arms when he goes up, the way he goes up just seems very awkward to me. McSwain picked IU for the very purpose of Tom Crean helping him, because he knows he isn't up to par. He will be just fine, remember if CH was healthy he wouldn't be in as much. IU's defense is horrible at times, Blackmon needs to step it up big time. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote

HoosierAloha Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 Not excuses, IU should have played better. However, returning from Hawaii can take a bit of a toll on you. I thought we'd be a little sluggish and then have some bench "motivation." The team seemed to be going through the motions early. Defense needs work- switching a lot allows players to be lazy with too many straight line drives given up. Hedge and work back with weak side help- everyone collapsing on a driver left wide open shooters, several possessions in a row- they were a good layup making team - no reason to give up 78 points to UMLOffense- early it looked like players were going into a move and then thinking. Morgan jumping to pass with his back to other players. Another jump pass with no intended target. I would chalk this up to the Hawaii Hangover for now. - we're good at 3s but sometimes it seems like we're warming up for a three point contest and not in game flow. - I get our bigs have perimeter skills but they're not guards and shouldn't be out there with a small wing guarding them. Play big when you need to play big. - 16 turnovers are still too many. We know it's a result of "playing with pace" but that needs addressed, again- we need to be living at the line with the emphasis on freedom of movement. 14 FTA against UML is weakThose are all things that can be corrected though. The team definitely showed they can compete with top teams out in Honolulu. Just clean up the little things now so they don't become big things later. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote
