Troy loves the bright lights. That could mean one of two things... 1) He owns the baseline like he has been, with a minimum of 5 nasty dunks. Knocks down a couple jumpers as well, but keeps turnovers down and dishes to teammates while piling up a quiet 15 points and 8 rebounds. Or.... 2) Tries going coast to coast on every defensive board, driving for a dunk on most perimeter catches, and taking questionable jumpers. All this while having a similar stat line, but much less efficient and hampering the team. Stop trying to get paid, Troy. Run with option 1. Please.

I'd like to congratulate Coach Crean on the win last night.  I feel he deserves a TON of credit for that game plan of attacking the rim and not settling for threes.  We are all quick to jump on Coach with our losses, but I think he deserves some applause for that game plan last night.  We took it to Pitt all night long and they couldn't stop us.   If you remove that 5 minute stretch in the second half, that was one of the most fun IU games I've seen in awhile.  Unselfish, attacking and hustle plays all around.   It also looks like he is really adapting the scheme to fit our players this year.  Maybe he's always done it, but I feel like he is starting to embrace the roster we have and is putting in an offense that will work with our players.  I could be stating the obvious, but it's a pleasure to watch that happen.  Hopefully we continue to adapt until we get it just right.  Judging from last night, we might not have to tinker too much more.   Great game Coach!

Saw Ahmed Hill for VT tonight. He was a major focus one spring period two years ago and a guy who really put the ball through the hoop. Averaging 8.3 ppg and 3.5 rbs so far in about 22 min, started half the games.

Why are we so worried about matching up with them.. who is going to keep up with Yogi, Rojo and Blackman at the same time. Not sure why Harrell out weighs our 3 shooters to be honest. All we gotta do is attack harrel and shot our normal percentage. We just played the best rebounders in the nation.

That was the best zone offense I've seen from one of Crean's teams at IU.  The defense was certainly better as well.  A lot of the difference came from improved effort (which Crean gets credit for in my book).  Our rebounding issues will likely linger, but I think if we get Hartman and Holt more time we will see our defense improve to some extent.  Consistent effort will probably be the key this year, because our shots won't always fall.

Folks:   The EYBL Nike summer circuit is arguably the highest level AAU circuit in the country. This past summer 437 players participated, including ALL the big names: Zimmerman, Rabb, Bryant, etc.    Emmitt Holt also played in that circuit.   Out of 437 players, only six averaged two or more blocked shots per game. Emmitt Holt averaged 2.1 blocked shots per game. He was fourth out of those 437 players.   Out of the players who averaged over one blocked shot per game (there were about forty of them) only ONE player averaged 1.5 or less personal fouls per game.    Who was the player who blocked the fourth most shots per game and committed the fewest fouls while doing so?     You guessed it...   Emmitt Holt.

I agree Coach Crean deserves credit for that game. Our team is going to be incredibly fun to watch this year.   In regards to your last paragraph, is it Crean adjusting the scheme to the roster? Or the roster being a better fit for Crean's scheme? I think it is probably a little bit of both.

I voted Emmitt but Hartman is right there. These guys get it. Hartman has made me eat my words and is playing Indiana basketball right now. Hard nosed, hustling, making the play.

I felt like the commentators gave IU a lot of love tonight.....liked our offense---liked our guards----praised Hanner and Holt------had Yogi fever----loved Troy's athleticism---actually complimented our defense ----etc.   That has to help our recruiting----hope Bryant was tuned in!

Depending upon just how severe his head injury is/was, he may never be able to play at a high level again.   That's not wishing ill will on him, but facing the realities of what he's facing.  I would rather see him sit out the entire season and redshirt and not feel any pressure to get back on the court too quickly.  I want him to be completely healthy and fully recovered and know that the next time he comes onto the floor in candy stripes he came to play.
