Not to mention the World Series paycheck he's going to collect.

Montero made $14 million this year. Fortune is predicting each player that gets a full share will get $500K. For Schwarber and other young players, its a big deal. For vets on big contracts, its a drop in the bucket.

Cubs fan here.  I'm interested what they will do this off-season.  However, I'm not very optimistic about real improvement.  I have zero faith in Jed Hoyer making the right decisions.  Cubs need to upgrade catcher, third base, and the bullpen.  Hoyer hates spending real money on the bullpen and I'm concerned he's unwilling to admit Paredes was a mistake and going stick with him this off-season.

It’s rough being a cubs fan.  Top 5 wealthiest program that acts like a middle tier club.

Cody Bellinger is quickly becoming one of the most talked-about trade candidates of the offseason. Earlier this month, Joel Sherman of The New York Post reported that the Cubs were “determined” to trade one of Bellinger or Seiya Suzuki. Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic added further detail to that story today, noting that the team would prefer to part with Bellinger. Dealing Suzuki doesn’t seem like anything more than a backup plan in case no Bellinger trade comes together.

Yeah, it’s bleak. Following the farm is fun, but having to rely on those guys because the Ricketts refuse to spend sucks. I’m not sure how much Jed even can do.

I have become more and more convinced baseball needs a minimum/maximum salary levels.  The salaries coming out of New York and LA are just absolutely stupid.

Teams need to share in profits and that includes TV rights.
